I do think a lot of new people are picking up the game recently or they're returning from a long break. But unfortunately I'm also seeing a lot of people quitting/putting the game down for awhile. Of my 27 friends, mostly new players/casual players, 13 haven't played in over 2 weeks and another 3/4 haven't played in a week or so. Progression in Eversoul is quite slow. It seems to filter out a lot of people even if lots of new people are giving the game a try.

newfag here. this game is basically, literally idle heroes, down to the minute mechanics. but with more jank and connecting.. pauses. sure eversoul has a lot more qol and free shit but there's idle heroes ps that gives you everything for free (and without the typical private server donation poz too when I played it) and even has seasonal reset servers for competitivefags to speedrun the game.
the fellow noobs I see plow through the gameplay and don't bother reading the story. hell even the guide's screencapper doesn't and he's presumably here for years. I mean I don't either, but I didn't pick this up for the idling (which are better done in 90% of browser games, that steam/mobage took and made soulless cashgrabs).
two issues I see are how the game addresses player onboarding by powercreeping the early game (every mmo does this, and it's stupid every time), and the story being async to the game progression (I get wanting to read at your own pace, but advancement to new regions should still be contingent on finishing the storyline).

Not sure what gating progression behind story would do though since people will still skip it if they don't care to read it, and gacha players can't read to begin with. As for the early powercreep I'm not too happy about the way they did it since you'll likely end up walled after a period of swift progression, but it's a necessary evil to give newbies a chance to catch up at least a bit to those playing for years.

it was a little tongue in cheek, sorry if I insulted you. but it is true that most noobs in my friendlist and arena don't do much story per the profiles.

they will, but it's just yet another qol thing that sacrifices the.. soul of the game. the qol on lost items irks me too, they could've just made the hint a region or even incorporate it into the dialog like they do with some of them. as it is you get 150 points just doing that. which doesn't mess with balance, but it kills the emotion behind the mechanic when you know you did nothing for it. which should be the entire point of a bond system.

imo there's no need for this. you could streamline the midgame instead (expanding this midgame as the lategame creeps farther out), integrate/combine the game experience of old and new players (ie. instead of themeparks, in terms of regions or unlocked mechanics), or just don't do competition in a time-variant idle/grinding game.

I've been going too hard on the game, but I have good words for it too: the ost is great. it's a korean game so it's gotta be but even then I still liked it more than I thought I would. the characters are also endearing and again, I liked more of them than I expected to.

I think a bit of the early game did need streamlining since it had a similar issue as Nikke does (except it's much worse in that game) where you just get stuck without being able to progress until you RNG enough copies of units. A longer midgame would be good but gachas tend to suffer from their biggest spenders always being at the limit of new content, so they're incentivized to focus on that I guess.
