When you are designing a competitive, fun game, the key word is tradeoff - a deck needs to be good at something, but bad at another thing - with a couple of tech cards to make it a bit less bad at that thing.

Current top tier card design features no tradeoffs with cards that cover all weakness

probably because mode cards are pretty complicated by default. For example, say my opponents board is Seria+luminous lancer and I have the new apollo. Instead of just doing 1 aoe twice, I can do 1 aoe, +2/+2 and trade and still full clear but now I have a 5/4 on board. That's an obvious play but point is there's just a lot of decisions.

The 5 drop is also cool because if any of the copies live, you can sevo it while going face for more clones or stats. RV has the aspect of being able to save the 0pp spell for later.
