I think what falcom did with sky the first is that they are first doing in house ai translation and then they have gungho edit it. They said they wanted to do this in order to make it easier to do worldwide release. And honestly im glad gungho isnt doing too many liberty edits it seems fine. Yes hi. The Rena fic does share a lot of similar events but it also adjusts things here and there. One big change is she gets close enough with Emma early on that Emma spills some of the beans on the Awakener stuff way before the CS1 endgame. Rena is characterized well, very much still recognizably similar to Rean but not a 1:1 copy.

The Elise fic though changes more overall though. Rean never got adopted in that fic and Elise transferred to Thors from St. Astraia for different reasons. It starts off mildly similar but has some notable divergences, which start to add up quite a bit. Elise goes to Bryonia with Machias, Fie, and Laura while Elliot goes to Nord with the others (Elliot getting closer to Alisa as a result), Alfin shows up at Thors instead (causing an incident that results in Millium joining early), Elise goes to the other side of Heimdallr with a different group (they meet Cedric and Kurt early, among other things), and a whole lot more. Has a lot of really funny moments too.

based on the content of the Japanese text I feel like it's only a tiny bit egregious. I like xstelle. I personally feel xsneed having walter call liberl backwater is a worse translation though. Having played the demo I am almost entirely certain that Falcom outsourced the world map and towns to some random Chinese developer (probably the one who did the Ys VIII smartphone remake). Everything just looks off if you compare the environmental style of the Calvard games or the Erebonia games. Especially if you go up the clock tower and look around the world around feels strangely miniature but same for towns and buildings. But at the same time buildings look blocky and just weird. The environments and assets just don't look like Falcom to me. Character models look fine. Also the UI is fucking blocky as fuck as well. Game feels like some Frankenstein stiched together by different people from different companies and probably different countries. Ironically I felt similarly with FFVIIR few years ago.

that sounds pretty interesting considering the final boss fight was the only fight I did with solo estelle that was truly a fun challenge that wasnt also just a little humiliating (In SC, for example, the funnest fight is actually gilberts final fight, because it's almost like tetris or puyo puyo with him trying to constantly crush you with adds. some fights that are easier than gilberts: Laurence from FC (not the arena fight), the entire shittenou except renne.

Out of all of the fights, The final boss is one I'd love to challenge again someday. I kind of expect the new balance to make what I achieved even more difficult if tita's evo orbal gear nerf is anything to go by, but at least estelles crafts are even more ridiculous.
