GW is generally anti-sex in their IP, but I sincerely doubt they called Owlcat and specifically forbade them from having an Argenta romance, since they had an eldar romance.

Nay, the real reason Argenta is unable to be romanced is because if she was, no other girl would have any popularity at all. Cassia is cute, sure, but she would be mogged in popularity by the SoB. Yrliet is already unpopular among normies, and that would just be even worse if the people who romanced her out of sheer curtiosity and lack of other options had Aregenta. Ranged is king in bg1. Every character (especially fighters) should have a longbow or some other kind of ranged option in their second slot.
When one hit can kill you the goal is to kill them before they get a chance to try. Zerg rushing is not something you do when most of your party has 6-8 hp max.
Also disabling enemies is super important. Sleep is guaranteed to work on most of the early game enemies and is an aoe. Just one cast of sleep is enough to solve most chapter 1 encounters.

To what extent are the Mythic Paths in WotR forced roleplay? So far I know the Aeon path is locked out by at least one specific decision - i.e. you have to choose the Aeon option at the first Wardstone or the path becomes unavailable for the rest of the game. Are there others like this? And once you adopt a Mythic Path, do you then have to continue make the 'correct' choices for in order to keep it? e.g. I'm guessing if you 'lose' the Angel path somehow if you make too many evil choices.

I'd say it's the opposite. Especially for western devs who have multi-cultural teams, various activists, global audience and DEI involved.
They can't just write a fun, attractive and interesting character without filtering something out or adding some weird, inclusive nonsense.

A WH RPG which makes proper use of the setting would have you steadily lose resources, planets, map areas and companions over time due to xenos/chaos onslaught from all sides, and would end with you having to make some monumentally dreadful sacrifice. Neglected companions get corrupted by chaos and betray you. Loyal companions die in battle or in events. That way your party is naturally whittled down over time in a way that makes sense and fits what most players do anyway by the end game, when they've decided on a favourite party composition for their playthrough and ignore the other companions. And this also makes for a more interesting difficulty curve - as the game goes on, you have to make do with less rather than more.

I love bg3 for the options it allows player within combat (5th edition and larianisms notwithstanding) and out of it (ways to solve quests, speak with dead etc) and the reactivity to actions, race, start and such, even if some get referenced only a handful of times.

You always have to stay within 1 step from each path's corresponding alignment (Lawful Good for Angel, Neutral Evil for Lich, etc) if you don't then you won't be able to upgrade it fully. I think you get a quest to fix your alignment if you stray too far from the intended one, but I never got it and I've never seen it, so I can't confirm if it exists.

You could in theory pick way too many Evil or Chaotic choices and fail your final Angel transformation, but it would require you to consistently pick those options if your starting alignment was Lawful Good. So don't worry too much about if you pick the occasional "[Evil] I don't like you. Die!"

There are generally 4 groups of characters.
Cool beatiful humans or barely different from humans, ugly/uncool ones, humanlike charactres (aka elementals, robots, furries monsters that have human like image) and complete oddbals (cubes, blobs, monsters, animals).

The first group has the most appeal, 3d has plenty if the lean to a preferred type, 4th has few but very dedicated fanatics.

Expiditions Rome, I think it’s a very good CRPG, the combat is enjoyable if a bit simplistic, the companions are memorable and enjoyable with Bestia Tabat being a personal favourite, the story is pretty compelling and well paced
All around I’d say top marks 8/10 it’s at best only held back by the kinda tedious conquering system, the fact crafted weapons give you random skills with no way to influence what skills you get and build variety being a bit on the minimal side but I’m really enjoying it and strongly reccomend it
Also you can fuck Cleopatra which is neat, romancefags have some neat options

I do a lot of 4 character setups, I'd say the minimum to be comfy or functional in pretty much any setup is to have one divine caster (probably Daeran or Sosiel) and one arcane caster (lot more flexible, Nenio, Ember, etc, could make do with a Seelah Bard/Skald too) for buffs.
