The games structure does not reward good play, it rewards efficient play. A good player with a 30 win streak but 15 minute duels won’t even chart, but a mediocre player with a 10 win streak with 5 minute duels will chart because they generate more points faster.

Sadly all of those mons are used in meme decks only, you can still "KoG" with them, since they fixed ranked mode and now you have save places on ranked (yeah before that, if you lose you always demote, till the very bottom)

You can also climb with like 45% win-rate but it will req you to have like 1000 games played or so.

I'd also be cool with anything that includes Sigilyph, Cacturne, Shiftry, Kabutops, Sabeleye, Swellow, Kingler, Crawdaunt, Drapion, Croagunk, Mismagius, Frosslass, Honchkrow, Bisharp, Xurkitree, Lurantis, Pheromosa or Sneasler.
Pokemon card art is pretty cool and I like the fact that the mons work together instead of 1v1s or 2v2s. Those mons also don't make me feel like a complete waifufag. The only ones I know from Gen 8 onwards are waifumons or from the anime with the mesugaki and the cat that evolves into an erotic magician. I'd rather see Regis I remember do some shenanigans together than pull for some unknown whore-creature because it made my dick twitch.

It's fun to use the bullshit it has, like Rainbow Neos and Armed Dragon lv 10 against a board, and the new Flame Wingman with with Winged Kuriboh lv 6 combo is pretty awesome. You summon flame wingman using Neos as material, add kuriboh to hand, summon Aqua Neos, discard Kuriboh to rip a card from the opponent and then you banish aqua neos to summon kuriboh from the graveyard. Kuriboh is pretty good combined with other interruptions like armed dragon thunder and super poly.
Also, I was playing one Sphere Mode together with The True Sun God because I saw a decklist play it, but maybe wouldn't it be better to just play double Sphere Mode? I do own 2 copies.

Grab a 2nd Linkage. Never run more than 2 but it's your strongest spell and having a second is great if you mill the first with Vector Blast or get negated. You can also play loose with the first Linkage by sending it with the skill or Area Zero since you can always search the second with Engage and aren't bottlenecked by needing Kagari to pick it out of the trash.

At worst it's Raye's QE on 4 card zones with no OPT. NTR is still worth running as many copies of and Engage is so mandatory it doesn't count, but Linkage consolidates the roles of Hauteclere, Magnet Reverse and to an extent Eagle Booster. It's explosive, it needs less setup than the other spells, and it's unlimited. Plus, it's more versatile in OTKs and the mirror than NTR Anchor because you don't need to rely on your opponent's monsters to do damage and you keep your zones clear during the Battle Phase.

droplet does almost nothing vs utopia, boms have more versatility vs utopia which is a very shitty matchup, where forcing the draw is a backup option if they're plebs that keep the 5k+ utopias in attack position by making starling with sparrow that ray can't target

There is no real validation, there's literally no way to interact with the other duelist.
A big part of it is liking the deck/card, you won't bother with something you don't care about, but it's also a way of expressing it to others.

If you can't bother to think against shaddolls, consider Light/Dark mirror. I genuinely don't know how I win against Shadolls most of the time (I just kept summoning snakes vs Skill 1 and just keep removing cards with SS spells until they stop coming vs Skill 2) but flipping Shadow Mirror seems to make them DC on the spot. I think Shadow is more useful because it kills Hedgehog and Dragon in grave. Light can neuter Construct but I think that's the only Light monster with an activated effect that matters.
I cannot be bothered to remember more than 4 Shadolls monsters and the 2 backrow that fuse. I think the one with Towers in it is good in BP but I couldn't tell you it's stats or effects to save my life.
