Just won 7/10 matches against my top rival with my Oriko team. I basically waste my entire first turn burning through Kirika's shield. Usually I can nuke down their team in my second turn but sometimes they get a lucky break in and my team shatters. Gonna get again tomorrow after spending some more orbs.

I've not played FFT, but I came across top picrel by coincidence and it dawned on me that it must be a FFT reference. Neat.

Pacing is fine. Most of the cut scenes are reduced to descriptions, some bonding and comedic scenes gone and some stupid changes even in the japanese version (like underage being changed to not of drinking age and the scene where Mitama asks Iroha to strip getting removed among others). It's fine, but Reco as a full is still the better experience. You will understand Magireco's main story perfectly fine but you will miss some fun stuff

i mean like, it's not as if I've gone back and reread the whole MR story since doing it the first time, so I'm going off of my memory, and of course as an Exedra starter you're never going to be able to replicate the actual experience of being part of the community as it was going on - which does impact the perception of the plot. And missing all the side events too.
That said, the exsneedra version did noticeably feel shortened to me. It condenses or just outright removes a lot of conversations that, while not 100% moving along the main plot were still important for setting the characters up. It's certainly better than reading the sparknotes of a book or a wiki summary, but I can't imagine people just doing Exedra would really get into it the same way. It's also very skimpy on the Another Story PMHQ content which paralleled the main story.

So yeah - well paced? Mostly yes. Full experience? No.

It doesn't have voice acting which makes it worse in every way. Even though it cuts out some faffing around, the downgrades on that and a few missing characters and iconic scenes makes it a worse experience. The main benefit is that it doesn't have the fucking annoying branching story paths that meant you might read it in an order that ruins the pacing. But it definitely is a worse experience overall.
The lack of voice acting is definitely the biggest issue though.

when you start the Link Raid you can set who you want to allow as Backup. The default is All, which puts a public listing for your fight in the Backup Requests tab. I selected Union only, which sent a notification to my union members and an entry in the Union Log.

I guess if my other Union members were online right now then they could click the Backup Request I sent and join within the next hour.

If you clear 3 Link Raids and you belong to a union, then the game says it gives you a bonus roll for a reward. It's kinda like a fate weave because the roll showed a pink sphere which exploded into some level 2 prism gems. I guess a gold roll might be like a prism orb.

Yeah, so now instead of skip skip skip you get grind grind grind for 10 times as long, great.
Content should be 1-time stuff you do once after patches, like the story/event chapters with 1-time fights and story mixed in and during downtime you get the boring grind that is either quick or skippable.
As it stands, besides the story content they dropped (which I haven't gotten to yet because of the link raid grind) you also have to spend like 6 or so hours grinding down crystalis and link raids...

It's fun to try and race others for the highest score, but in terms of rewards, it seems really insignificant, at least for level 6. Like, 22 medals for 1st vs 20 medals for the minimum required 100 points. Maybe it's supposed to be a 10% bonus, so even at the highest level I doubt it's worth losing sleep over.

I feel like link raid is very quickly going to become a mode that makes people hate each other, because people can steal your rewards. It's going to be awful when we're at high levels and no matter what you do you can't beat a whale that just gets easy first in your lobby.

They should have made the rewards the same for everyone atleast that way it would feel like co-op and the ranking is just a side gimmick.

No, that sis is retarded. The difference between getting 1st and last is miniscule (at level 6 anyway) so as long as you hit the minimum requirement you're good. Also there won't be half a dozen whales flooding your matches at the same time, unless you suck you should still get 2nd or 3rd easily most of the time.

Ui's skill should have worked like her special does, the buff from the special ticking off her own turns but the buff from the skill ticking off others' turns is retarded.

How do I join someone's request from my union for the link raid?

They have to be playing and you just go to the join screen and they will be up the top of the list with a label saying they're in your union.

Any suggestions as how this should be handled as a raid leader? Idk if I should have a set time or if anyone really cares about that or if people should just type their union if they need help.

It doesn't really matter for the moment all the raids are easy and randos will join if your union members can't. You don't really need a union but I think you get extra rewards for being in one, it's also fun to actually play with some other sisters.
