There are just a LOT of upper echelon players that could all easily make, say, top 32. And then any of those players get to top 8 and we suddenly have le consistent top 8s game is not random

There are very few players that I truly believe are consistently a tier above the rest. Players like EndingWalker, Punk, MenaRD, etc. Yet even then these players will occasionally drop games to random players no one has ever or will ever hear from again. That is what makes the game random. Even the best players can get mauled by corner carry into throw loop.

I think Tekken is the least fun of any fighting game at intermediate levels.

Every single fucking character has some cheesy knowledge check that you need to know or you just get fucked by it constantly. You need to remember which side to step each character and that you need to step to the opposite side when you switch sides with them so your muscle memory doesn't take over and you step left when you needed to step right but you're on player 2 side now.
Then you need to also get completely fucked by throws for hours on end until you can finally distinguish which hands they reach out to you with, also Kings are fake so you just straight guess anyway with his btw.
And on top of all that bullshit, Tekken 8 now also has heat so every character has guaranteed knowledge checks you NEED to know how to even guess correctly on or you're just fucked and will lose to with no way around them.

Intermediate play in that game is like every single match is a pop quiz for shit you didn't even know existed until you saw it. The only moments in which that game is fun is when you and your opponent both know the bullshit you both have and you can actually play the game. Everything outside of that is literally just knowledge checking and cheesing each other ad nauseum.

Intermediate play in granblue versus is amazing!

tekken is only fun casually for the first week and if you touch a tekken game after that you're mentally finished

From this position you can do a thing, and your opponent neesd to guess the counter to that thing and if he doesn't, he'll most likely lose the game. If you find this oppressive, stupid, or you don't enjoy it, then generally fighting games are not for you. There's like 50 things that suck in the game and the reason why you can't get out of the corner is the one thing that's not the game's fault.
