It's only zoomers shitting on it because "le heckin' PRICE" and because it's something they can all rally and shout about to feel bigger than they are. Granted, yeah, it isn't the *biggest* content-wise right now and $80 is a little steep, but it has the best Rainbow Road in the history of the series and lets me drive around in an open world as Waluigi in a biker outfit, and that's fucking awesome. The soundtrack is a big draw, too. Glad I managed to preorder the bundle.

NTA but price isn't the big issue since the bundle for it saves you around $20 or so. The issue is much of the gameplay. You can't really get too far ahead of the pack, some of the shortcuts are/were genuinely slower than going on a straight meaning you could do a ton of cool shit for no real reward or even higher placing, while you can go all around the open world there isn't tons to do and maps don't tend to show over half the actual challenges or areas of intrest. There are some people who also weren't super fond of the way grand Prix(I think that was the mode) worked since some races were just get from point A to B but in the open world and instead of just being an optional transition it locked out stage variety and technically counted as a whole race no matter how short

Eh, I had as much fun 3-starring every Grand Prix up to the mirrored versions as I have 100%ing every other MK's equivalent mode (except the original and Super Circuit, they can go to hell). I wasn't really fond of having to drive all the way to the next course and only do one lap once I got there either, but it was still fun, and a nice change of pace. The option to do standard 3-laps at every track would be nice, though

Personally, I almost hopped that since they had the open world they would have done a bit of the Air ride option and let you hop on out of the kart to walk around a bit. I mean it's not like you're stuck in the kart the whole time since you can hop in the trailer trucks and even get the ufo but almost always seems like a waste to have such a big world, new models, but then not let me do any classic mario stuff or even just swap karts in the open world sections. It disuades me enough to not buy it since Air ride was also announced and keeps it's scale more relative while giving a lot of old options save for the only kirby copy & meta and Dedede stuck on unique rides options.

i do think the price is a bit up there and the grand prix's incorporating the open world so that the other races become one lap is probably the dumbest thing in the game but the game's really fun and i'm a sucker for weird characters in games and getting to play as a cataquack or fishbone scratches that itch and the music is great

Galacta Knight's canon is everything he's constantly pulled through time and space, which is all canon as shown by SKC being an Elseworld that's canon after Magolor goes to it, along with Meta Knightmare and The True Arena having continuity in KPR. Dunno what order it's in, though he technically hasn't appeared in the main timeline I don't think? Morpho got him in the Guest Star timeline then showed up in the main timeline in FL, so barring Time Travel or a game set in the past I think Galacta is gone for good.

Honestly for characterization I find this really interesting for Galacta that he just accepts this. Considering how old he is he'd have to know about Morpho or have heard about him in some form, so the fact that after doing a hard landing and preparing to fight he just stops and accepts what's going on without fighting is such an interesting thing that could help define his character.

I have this belief that because the Clockwork Stars are these powerful handmade God-like machinery made to grant wishes and because the Ancients sealed Galacta Knight for his crimes and power through Clockwork Stars, which is omniscient in its processes, he cannot die no matter what because it would essentially cause a conflict error with the original wish to seal him away. That's why he can feasibly come back. Any time he's summoned, to stop any conflicts with the original wish, a contingency to uphold the original wish is NOVA (whether or not this is the same NOVA we see in Milky Way Wishes and Super Star is up in the air. I believe it is. but I could be wrong. What matters is it's different from Star Dream) pulling Galacta Knight from his time and dimension and plopping him down when and wherever he's been summoned before rewinding and pulling Galacta Knight back to his imprisonment once the condition has been met such as "fighting the strongest warrior in the galaxy". If Star Dream was made by HWC then I think that's why Haltmann's wish could never be fulfilled because unlike the Clockwork Star that holds Galacta Knight, Star Dream was poorly made in that it kept running into errors and conflicts because Susie was already there by Haltmann's side. Correct me if I'm wrong, it's been a while since I've played Robobot and some of the lore slips me.

Meta Knight could've worked in the original KDL2 since we got Meta-lite (Blade), diet-Axe (Butch) and discount-Mace (Masher). Probably what happened was Shomomura didn't want to use Sakurai's character without the Sword ability, which wouldn't have served a function Cutter or Parasol didn't do in his games.
KDL3/K64 were also anomalies in the series in that it's usually better to fight the bosses as Normal Kirby than with abilities, which would have sucked against Meta Knight.
