Taishin is just a bit retarded in general. You have to push her to move up away from the end closer position. The reason red shift isn't too good is because she end closes too hard, ie she doesn't accelerate until it's too late. Forcing red shift/pump on her won't do much if she's running slow in the first place. It's why encroaching shadow is good, because it procs only when she's end closing, she gets crazy speed as a result. It's good enough that not even Gold Ship can touch her as long as they started end closing at the same time, sometimes even able to catch up to a GS that end closed early. Unfortunately, most uniques proc way earlier or way later, so it's hard to time them for a giga boost. Nemesis can do it, but it's not too reliable and only activates when she's losing, at which point it's not enough.

Rough, anon. What I usually go with is: Does long race uma have 20% or 10% stamina growth? You can potentially get away with 4 speed/2 stamina. If long race uma doesn't have that growth, I play it safe with 3 speed/3 stamina. Borrowing stamina would still be okay because Super Creek is good, the welfare cards are "okay," but you'll need someone good to use like a Seiun Sky or if someone is putting up Manhattan Cafe.

My Sleeping Lion Med S Taishin did absolutely terrible in any practice room matches never getting past 6th. When I switched to a Taishin with BofA and without Med S, she was doing better.
And now due to Taishin being considered meta for the next race, people are making countermeasures to kill off Sleeping Lion.
I just don't see why you would risk it unless it's your only resort after Swinging Maestro and MackQueen refused to give you Cooldown. Run 3 speed 3 stam with 9 speed 9 stam inherits. Do a few runs and find out what your stat lean is, then adjust your deck or sparks to counterbalance, and then just keep sending shitty runs until you get the crazy luck for non stop multi rainbows that can take you to 1200 1200. Just know if you shift more sparks in one direction, the secondary stat will suffer. if you inherit 18 stam sparks, your guts is going to be off by 75-100 from not pressing stam as much, so you take more guts rewards and maybe press guts once or twice when the stack is big.

If you're feeling brave / lucky, do power inherits and push for extreme card RNG to get your speed/stam where they need to be.

Lacking acceleration.
It simply takes too long for your uma to reach max speed, and its max speed is lower than umas that have 1200 + S medium + green speed skills + late speed skills.
You know when the umas reaches the last spurt and some of them simply zoom to the front? That's acceleration. And a single acceleration skill is worth around 300 power.
The problem is that acceleration bonus only works if your uma is accelerating, and when you uma accelerates depends on its strategy and racetrack.
