Friendly reminder to all the newfriends. If you are rolling a meta class (such as Deadeye, Hollow Palm or Stormweaver in 0.3) you have to make sure that you can stay ahead of the curve.

If you don't expect to be processing significantly faster than the average player (realistically you want to aim to be in the top 10%) then you WILL have a bad time. The closer you are to the average the more contested and inflated gear will be.

If you know you won't play a lot, you'll 100% better off picking something that is just good and not as popular.

Every map has a boss, no running around hunting the last rare in a corner, which ended up with GGG just giving up and giving you permanent maphacks with all rares visible
Better layouts
Better map influencing, blighted and cleansed suck ass compared to how influenced maps work in PoE1, cleansed can literally roll a modifier giving you less experience or less loot in exchange for shitty bonuses it's pure ass
Crafting bench provides an actual sink for currency so you don't have 2000 ex to 1 div exchange rate and lets you fix resists without reshuffling your entire character's build and spending an hour switching items around
Better itemization, not just +gem level and %phys on all weapons. Way way way more vectors to scale damage by, not just generic increased and crit and that's basically it
Better passive tree which actually has life on it instead of pretending you can ever balance no life vs 300% blue life
Power, Endurance, and Frenzy charges aren't just MMORPG builder-spender rotation garbage but actually have inherent bonuses to having them in addition to being expended by certain skills and effects
Scion exists and there's a central path through the tree so you're not hard railroaded into your class's starting area of the tree in a game that claims to have build variety as a core tenant
Chaos Orbs as base currency of trade not exalts
Scouring orbs mean you don't need to pick up 100 copies of the same white base or rely on TFT trannies and RMT cabal bulk selling bases
Skills are largely not weapon locked, if you want to flicker with a sword you're allowed to do that, no PoE2 ONLY COLOR WITHIN THE LINES nonsense

Chinks lack basic reasoning and believe armor is good because Smith of Kitava is good with 75% block, 4k life, and 90% all res (the fact these same chinks are wearing gear like Trampletoe which has barely any armor on it since it's such a low level base doesn't even enter their skull), despite Block and Resists and a good life pool with high regeneration (Smiths were wearing a chest base with several percent base life Regen plus there was a 5% life Regen per second node on top of 5% max res), Armor is completely irrelevant to the equation.

There's literally footage of people demonstrating as much by standing in white mobs with their shield equipped shrugging things off at full HP and then unequipping it and instantly dying. 75% block isn't "just" being 4x tankier, because you have life Regen on top of it, if your block is enough to let your Regen outpace any leftover hits getting through, you're not just 4x tankier, you are tens to hundreds of times tankier, to potentially immortal if mobs can never kill you with 75% block. And likewise if you drop your shield, you're not just becoming 4x squishier, it's more like 100x squishier.

It's sad because in theory Cold Snap is actually fun as fuck.

The problem was that it was clunky as fuck to use, not only do you need to invest into freeze to consistently freeze enemies, the best skills to do so are fairly low damage (frostbolt/nova) or insanely slow (comet) to make up for it.
Cold Snap would have to be insane but the reality was that while it had great base damage relative to other abilities, it also only ever has a single use, so sometimes even tanky white mobs would live, let alone blue/rares and Bosses would basically laugh at it because it's going to take you an hour to freeze the boss again.
Not to mention that Cold Snaps AoE is pitiful so you had to stand there casting it a bunch of times which, despite its fast cast time (or maybe because of) was kind of anti climactic.

They could've went the "slow cinematic" style here and just slap a 1sec cast time on it but actually make it fucking rape anything that is frozen but alas, GGG is scared of players actually doing damage even in a multi step, multi investment combo, but Lightning Spear obliterating the screen after walking 5 feet is perfectly fine I guess.
