Stardew Valley isn't really a farming sim. It's more about the fantasy of moving to an idyllic remote community and being able to live a fulfilling life there. Farming is a core part of the game, but Ape didn't make it nearly as detailed or complicated as he could have. The fact that most of the farm variants emphasize other things besides farming is, I think, proof of what I'm talking about. SDV's main appeal is its "vibe", which is achieved through its aesthetics and its setting as much as its game play mechanics.

SDV is a very well put-together game in terms of achieving a specific aesthetic end, and most of SDV's knockoffs and imitators don't understand this and can't replicate it. Creating a "farming sim" isn't hard, and there were already plenty of farming sims on the market with far more detailed mechanics than what SDV had, but none of them had SDV's vibe.

No the issue here, as far as I know, I could be wrong, is how Pierre as a npc is hardcoded. You can either replace his sprites and portrait, or make him vanish, but the second would make impossible for the player to use the store. That's why in late game, even if you can enter to the store, you can't buy shit if Pierre isn't in the store. No other npc can't take his role in the game, again as far as I know. So Abigail can't "handle" it. Maybe you can, but no one would bother in do all that circus coding when is easier just write how a character got "brainwashed" .

In my opinion, friend, Stardew is better expirenced alone and unmodded for the first playthrough. You need to play at your own pace and not worry about others. I like the fishing minigame, but I always abandon fishing.
Fishing extends the day's IRL time. Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but going to bed is the only way to save.
For me, the next biggest competitor is mining. Fishing, generally, only earns me more money. Few fish provide resources for other pursuits (stingrays can be traded for mahogany seeds, but fishing in the pirate cove means you'll catch 20 fucking gourmand statues).
In stardew, I spend my days in service of my longterm goals. Golden tresure chests (stardrop tea and golden animal crackers) are incredible rewards, but even the need for them diminishes after a certain point of time.
If I just wanted fun fishing, I'd play a game with better mechanics. Stardew is a sandbox and I have goals that I want to achieve in that sandbox. Fishing (and farming) contribute the least to those goals longterm.

I got to test how much profit can be obtained with the *best* fishing methods. What I think of so far is likely quality bobber + wild bait lava eels in the volcano caldera. I *doubt* I'll be able to get a perfect catch and highly doubt that I'll be able even catch one within two mistakes. But, for my y13(?) farm, I have a bunch of golden chicken coops and I kind of want to tear them down to decorate instead.

I have one perfection save where smoked iridium Lava Eel was my main source of income because I fucking love fishing. My strat was an Advanced Iridium Rod with Quality Bobber, Trap Bobber (making the catch much more comfortable for me), and the Preserving enchantment. I used Deluxe Bait by default because it's much easier to obtain in bulk, and only used Wild Bait when it appeared in a treasure chest, but I wonder how their numbers compare. Almost every expansion and character mod have it own Nyapu version of portraits. Other players like me doesn't mind the mismatch, because in the very end, you can't help it. I actually like the Pokemon formula of beating 8 gyms, the elite 4, and a side gang. I havent bought a Pokemon game since the 3DS, and I borrowed Scarlet from a friend and only got halfway. I think the same about every character in stardew, especially after you marry one. That's why you mod her even if you have zero interest in marrying her. It's basically canon friendly dialogue tier but comprehensively jas. I've been playing stardew since shortly after it came out and I have only ever played it once without her mod just to see the difference and I quickly switched back. I would not have played stardew, or continued to play stardew, without her mod or mods in general.
My biggest grievance with her mod is she still falls into the same marriage trap the game subjects everyone to, but even then she's more interesting than any unmodded base character. Only two valid reasons not to use her mod, especially while still posting on 4chins, is if you're a base game purist and there's also no alternative to her mod's portraits since it adds way more of them + variations and layers, but I like her mod's portrait the best so it doesn't bother me.

I'll do what I can for summer and fall, but I might have to wait for the red cabbage. I don't mind putting off ginger island a bit if I'm successfully working toward mastery. RF is pretty lore heavy, it's just not very deep. It's basically like if there was a "Survivor of the empire: Stardew valley" game that released that follow a soldier from the Gotoro empire becoming a farmer and village leader. Dating was not axed (it's more in depth than RF5's dating system but less than 4) but the farming aspect is part of the city building aspect, most of the rpg mechanics are simplified or not present (you don't forge your weapons with random bonus craps for bonus stats, you don't train your thousands of useless skills like "sleeping", "bathing" or "walking") but the combat system is a lot better and actually useable. The city building is integrated to the rpg mechanics by giving you bonus stats for every unique things you have in your villages. Random travelers are replaced for the most part by random villagers who are mostly here to do your chores (watering plants, gathering resources, fishing, taking care of your animals or just money grinding), farming tool upgrades are replaced by god artifacts (which are magic weapons, movement tools, passives buffs and farming tools at the same time). Soil health, nutriments, etc are not present. Harvesting a plant gives you back the seed you've used. There are no indoors for npcs houses

Basically it's a very different game that was released between rf5 and rf6. The Japanese title makes it very clear that it's not a mainline game.

I believe Grandpa had everything a good farm could have, but he sold a lot of things and downgraded the house. He got old and couldn't do what he used to do before, hence the whole valley went almost to ruins. Yes, I believe same as now, grandpa maintained the town floating when he was young. Are crab pots actually good for EXP? During my last playthrough with Walk of Life's prestige mechanic, I reached Perfection with fishing at level 14 while almost everything else was maxed out at level 20.

No, they give so little xp that the near no-time xp you get from them is still a waste of time.
You get 5 xp per crab pot regardless of what you get. In comparison, fishing is a lot more complex to calculate but will almost always give you way more xp per ingame time.
First off, fishing has 2 additional multipliers that can multiply each other. Perfect catch x2.4 and treasure 2.2. If you're lucky and get a perfect catch that allows you to get the treasure, you get x5.28 experience. Yeah, that's right. Over 5 times the xp of your catch (actually, it does treasure multiplier and then truncate the result and then applies perfect catch's multiplier so it's a tiny bit less than expected). The actual xp is simply the (Difficulty/3)+((Quality+1)*3). Iridium is +2 compared to gold.
Basically even a shitty gold sardine will give you (30/3)+((3+1)*3)=22 xp, 48 for a treasure chest, 52 for a perfect catch and 115 for a perfect catch treasure chest, yeah. That fucking fish is worth 23 crab pots. And that's one of the worst fish in the game. The actual worse fish in the game (the carp) would still give you 88xp, just under 18 pots.

Or if you want a tldr: always try to perfect catch, get treasure chest if you can without losing perfect catch. If you already lost perfect catch, get treasure. Pirate profession is fucking great (+15% chance to get a treasure chest, additive)

The two big chunks are the massive amount of NPCs (all with events that mostly fucking suck) and the mountain ninja questline, which's a series of mediocre fetch quests set in a maze-y area that will eat up the better portion of your day without noclip, and accompanied by a mindnumbingly idiotic sideplot to boot.

I'd also like to bring up something nobody ever mentions: Ridgeside's major lack of polish in general. The dev team went basically vanished off the face of the earth after 1.6, giving it only the bare minimum updates to keep it functional. The NPCs lack many cool built-in Content Patcher functions we have access to now, the events are insanely amateurish (like the one where Bert and Olga just walk on top of the chairs at their date because they don't have sitting sprites), the dogshit portraits making BBBoong's packs obligatory and all kinds of other minor issues that pile up. I'd recommend literally anything over RSV if you want content, or at least content done well.

So I went to do a small quest. To try find if I could fix this issue. The mod Miss Coriel Response Core, give to all npc, this annoying lines, overwriting any custom line the npc might have. At least I'm sure Trinnie marriage mod should have a unique dialogue for when she receive the bouquet. I went to the mod and deleted the lines. Sadly it make things worse. I removed the whole mod, and the npc still give some generic line, no sure if is vanilla or from other mod. In the end, seem like Response Core is a "dependency" but it hide unique lines like bouquet response, or birthday gift response. Maybe no one bother because is just two dialogue lines? Sorry for the bad english.

Unlike the other big coom mods on Nexus, Xtardew actually attempts to make its content a bit more immersive by editing vanilla and SVE events to accommodate the lewds so there's actual context to them. Use picture related if you want things to happen on the day of the festival in general, or the bit below for things to happen inside the festivals exclusively.

Replace Town with Forest or Beach for the flower dance or luau etc, the temp is also necessary so your edits only trigger in the festival maps, which are also temporary maps. OnLocationChanged is obligatory, LocationName conditions will fail silently without this. Check out the Morgan mod for usage examples.

It seem like if you disable all the girls options in the genderswap dialogue mod. You also disable the dialogues and no only the portraits and sprites. Mud should add an option to change to the the girl's names because now all the girls have male names here.

Actually, I'm not entirely sure if you can use Update in Dynamic Tokens. You may or may not be able to get it working with just LocationName, but I can't say for sure without testing it myself. You can also send a mailflag via trigger action with the picture related Game State Query, but I don't know if it would make the Dynamic Token parse as true before the festival is loaded. The other alternative is to set up a Trigger Action with a LocationChanged trigger to send a mailflag when the player enters the map BEFORE the festival location (so entering the town to get to the luau), which is incredibly hacky but I can walk you through if needed. Oh, and most importantly, don't forget that Patch Reload does NOT reload Dynamic Tokens. You have to reboot the whole game to reload any changes to them. Thanks for the explanation and possible alternatives! I think I was going about it the wrong way trying to use Dynamic Tokens for what I needed. Used the Morgan mod as a ref instead for using LocationName and Update, and did an EditData action instead to get my desired result.

Nice, glad to hear. And yeah, Dynamic Tokens are a little tricky to find an usecase for as a beginner but you'll find that the sooner you start using them, the easier things will become for you. You can do extremely practical things with them to reduce your workload, like automatically changing all dialogue that mentions Rasmodius to Rasmodia if you have her mod installed without the need to have two sets of dialogue, events, etc and other such things.
