I think it's CS1 and 2. To name an example, people say CS1 is peak comfy, but to me it was always OG Sky and playing the demo just reaffirmed that for me. I just don't think a lot of Class VII and Rean were interesting characters. 2 I think handled a heavily foreshadowed plot point terribly and on top of the third path just having been playing into Osborne's hands, which to be fair I guess should not be very surprising since the noble alliance held most of the cards and had the upper hand so it makes sense to disrupt their operations and shit.
I also don't think the games made that good a point of showing that Class VII is when these kids finally found a place they "belonged" to.
3, 4 and Reverie of course have faults too, but the hate for 4 in particular I really just don't get, and I say that as someone that thinks the Curse is wack.

Well I've said before that I think Crossbell has the best plot writing in the series, they knew exactly what they wanted to do with that duology, so aside from disagree CS1 and 2 are better games than what comes after, I'd say Lloyd's arc was better. But I do think Reverie is a better closure Rean's arc than for Lloyd's and despite being frustrated at how stupid Rean's problem with accepting people love him is to me (this is all the more stupid because of the harem - I don't hate he has one, but his main issue being what it is when he has a harem and is aware about that since CS3 was a bold decision, to say the least), I actually thought the conclusion he reaches that being happy is not a right, but a duty was brilliant.

I think the route system has one benefit which is that Rean and co cant invade Van and aso time so it prevents issues CS4 had. But it does reduce impact if quatre doesnt meet hamilton himself but kai 2 can do it.
