You should be able do them before you finish Chapter 4. Artificial Somnambulism ORD-01 to ORD-05 takes place since it unlocks to before that one stage where Mesmer Jr. puts Vertin through the program again, but I forgot when that was. ORD-05 to 10 is after that stage and before 4RD-21, so as long as you finish it before that, you'll be fine regarding the storyline. I recommend you do ORD-10 right before 4RD-21 for maximum linearity.

The baby doesn’t die, the love interest does. The baby is rescued and the old guy assassin leaves with it.
The DLC only exists to set up how the EB’s lineage persisted, which is “important” because the EB and this assassin (and by extension his son/daughter) have a lot of First Civilization DNA in them. And then the next DLC ended up making it pointless by showing that the EB eventually came to have a First Civilization staff that allowed them to live to the modern age, so really this lineage had 2000+ years to be setup without having to explicitly show it in the game.
And, by the way, after the backlash Ubisoft “fixed” it by adding in some dialogue where the EB can say they’re not interested or attracted to the assassin’s son/daughter, but will have a child with them anyway to continue the bloodline, turning a railroaded romance into railroaded eugenics.
