Do people in this game ever finish a set of missions? I think most of the times I've come back to this game, the host quit at the end of the first mission. Or I always lend in the game where two premades forgot to turn off public matching.

Fire is just straight damage + the DoT, these days Gas is a weaker damage effect but also confuses most enemies and smaller heavies (like Hulks or Chargers, the latter of which will change direction mid-charge if they get gassed as an aside) which causes them to swing/shoot randomly. Tried the M7S on bots a bit. It's not too bad it seems. Pretty accurate so it's not particularly hard to pop the heads on some of the beefier enemy types. Obviously there's better options but the M7S is one of my favorite weapons from Halo so I'm largely using it for vibes.

This isn't terribly unreasonable because it's safe to assume the Helldivers are all on the same radio net, and that helmets dampen outside sound. frankly so long as you're not trying to solo d10 shit without a game plan and the skill to back it up, almost anything is viable so long as you set up a good loadout to compliment each other. stun weapons have their advantages despite being shitty for direct combat, energy weapons means you're not packing too serious a punch without downsides but aren't a drain on team or personal resources, and each bullet weapon has their use cases, downsides, upsides while numerous strategems can cover up the holes in your loadout. get a team together to cover each other's weaknesses and anything works.

this isn't some looter shooter or a statwhore game. and just because a gun may be able to get a vertical grip for recoil control doesn't mean it will magically feel good to use if it's fighting ergonomics. people need to find what they feel comfortable with, or try outside their comfort zone instead of focusing strictly on the per-bullet meta efficiency of everything.

blue icon are sub-objectives. points of interest are the white markers that initially look like jewels before grabbing any samples around them. if you see a blue or red container door in the earth, you blow it up to open it; if you see a bunker with two buddies, you both hit the button around the same time to open it. and there's the ships that pop hatches.

a word of advice for bunkers: you can dive/prone into them and use first person aim to clip the gun camera through, see if there's super credits inside pre-emptively rather than bother with getting someone to help open it unless you need medals and slips- and sometimes those bunkers are nothing but guns and ammo, so a worthwhile trick to save time. also, if you grab any SC, it auto-saves to the account regardless of mission completion, so if you're really on that grind, you can just quit a mission once you think you've found everything and start another.

especially if they're all coming from the same direction, we can take turns throwing bombardments and we get plenty of time to set up emplacements and shit. because it's the extraction waves there are no dropships, just neverending target practice.

it definitely inspires you to think about what defense missions COULD have been, if they just designed the maps properly. even bug defense is boring because bug breaches are so easy to camp with gas and fire.
