just finished the story. whole post is spoilers.

genuinely pretty fucking terrible. outside of a few Hype(tm) and Aura(tm) moments, it was just the characters taking forever to try and explain the current situation and yuno and august talking about their feelings in various degrees of vagueness.
i kept expecting that blonde gladiator dude to show his true colors and be an underhanded villain, driven by ambition or pressure from the septimontian lords - but that just never happens. he ends up doing absolutely nothing of consequence.
leviathan whispering to augusta COULD have been interesting, she could have had a moment of weakness where she gives in and rover has to save her or something, but she ends up just rejecting it.
the sovereign is a rather faceless villain, if you can call it a villain at all. it has no agency. it's effectively a force of nature.
the 30 seconds at the very end of the quest where cristoforo reveals multiple characters were just actors he created was genuinely more interesting than multiple hours of chasing around the sovereign.

pretty disappointed after how genuinely great 2.5 was and how much better than this 2.4 was.

I hate to say it, really, after the stellar previous patch, but the story this time makes you give zero fuck. Nothing we didn't already know from the pre-VN quest, Augusta's trailer, and now for a third fucking time, the main patch.

Augusta is cool, but that is all, they give you no reason to think beyond that. No emotional attachment to her or incentive to roll for her beyond the gameplay. This is like the opposite of the previous patch.

I suspect that they will load all the emotional storytelling into Iuno as she is already more captivating than Augusta, and no, not a feetfag. I wished they they didn't divide it up with:

Augusta = Main plot, aura farming
Iuno = Waifu plot

YOU CAN DO BOTH FOR BOTH.
I'm mostly mad because they were on such a good streak and seems to have nailed nuanced storytelling. Oh well. More astrites for Galbena/Chisa.

Augusta is just a nice, generic dps that can fit into a lot of teams because she doesn't need much support, is hard gated by liberation CD for damage, and has a generic damage amp outro. As long as you fill concertos before you cycle you can fit her into any comp.

She reminds me of Changli a lot, where you don't really need to build around her and has a pretty straightforward kit that isn't going to change much with future characters, just getting more % damage.

Whole new (avaible) quest orbits around Augusta story (her backstory and present goals) and Rover helping her and Iuno get rid of the dark tide/dark fog in the island in south region of Septimont.
It involves chasing some dumbass T-Rex and use it as a bait for the baddy black tide boss (that was later revealed it was behind Augusta life struggles the moment she was lil child since it wants to consume her and become ultimate being/god or some shit)
You are doing it mostly since at the very end you get some bullshit item left by Imperator (and that item was blocked by black tide/black fog and without Augusta you can't reach it apparently since that place is very restricted). And to make it funnier, you can't even use that item in the end since it's locked and you speculate Carte can open it (story ofc don't progress to that point so to be continued in next patch)

bonus points:
something something Christoforo was pulling string behind the scene for some of the characters (ofc we learn that at the very end).
something something Iuno is simping for both Rover and Augusta, Augusta thinks Rover is the promised hero of Septimont, Rover thinks that Augusta is promised hero of Septimont. They all have different strength and weakness. The score overall is pretty much the same desu, or 2.6 being a tiny bit lower. Purely on the story side, it’s weaker than both 2.2 and 2.5, mostly because it’s less personal to the character i.e Augusta, comparing to Carty and Frog’s story. In all fairness, it’s to be expected since the initial premise was about the hunt and septimont, so the story still has to revolve around that, with some personal Augusta moments sprinkled in.
