I might have worded it badly, but here's the short version of it
14 years after Naos Minor was conquered by the Empire, Val'Ucal (aliens), invaded the planet and are now in a war against the empire. Liberation Front, formed from former soldiers, goverment and citizens of the planet's previous faction, Naothor, has declared independance and are now fighting for the freedom against the Empire as well. Liberation Front and Val'Ucal, as of this moment, are neutral at best, with a few skirmishes between them from mostly misunderstanding

I always have the best luck when a new expansion drops.
I do a run with minimal mods, mostly just a few QoL mods, and beat the new expansion content, then inevitably get so attached that I keep that colony going for as long as possible.
I keep a running list of things I want to change with mods and tell myself, "I'll change it next run." But "next run" usually never happens. I keep telling myself that until I burn out on the game. Then a new expansion comes out and I return and do it again.

For example, very creative people will bond over topics like art, writing, theaters etc. but can disagree over hating faggots or other topics when one is very pure and the other more debauched
