Now fast forward to V3, where her synergies with Castorice got nuked, and her hypercarry capabilities got pretty much nullified. Now you have a character that struggles to compete with Tribbie on Castorice teams, and can't 0 cycle at E2S1 investment as main DPS. She pretty much lost her identity and now her kit is worthless. I assume that the actual strategy is to make some characters "barely-meta", meaning they are good, but not super good, just enough to have some value in certain situations. They make such characters in-between the ones that are actual meta, which are often the main push characters and are slotted in the same team. Basically, the strategy is to create characters that aren't good enough to do good by themselves, but are pretty good when you consider them in batch with the characters that are actually supposed to sell. Such characters are basically balancing between making sure that people pull so that they have to top-up for actual meta and and not being good enough on their own.
