The waits are sooo long that I wasn’t even thinking of the senior citizens. I have concerns about the younger people like Willa Holland/Megumi Toyoguchi and the people in that age range. With the long gaps, there's always a real risk that actors move on, retire, or become unavailable. I genuinely don't think KH2 fanatics are mentally well. Not people who like KH2 the most, but people who think this series is only KH2. The FF characters in these games have always been relegated to cameos. Every single person I talk to, my IRL friends included act like Cloud was the main character of the first 2 games. The entire thing of KH being a "Final Fantasy x Disney" crossover is that it's the Final Fantasy STYLE crossed over with disney.

You'd think they'd take advantage of how multiple SE characters are in one game. How both villains of the game are literally why Cloud, Aerith, Yuffie, Leon, and Cid lost their home.

You'd think they'd make these characters interact with the Org, whose leader is the Nobody of the man who is the root cause for why Radiant Garden fell.

The same goes for the Disney side since the series has an established rule that prevents legit crossover outside of the literal handful of disney characters not attached to a world. Even in KH1, the Seven Princesses barely interact with one another and we're only told they're holding the Final Keyhole's darkness back when THEY'RE just standing around like the FF chars in the library.

Marvel World. The Muppets World. Avatar World. Indiana Jones World. The Simpsons World. And it has Xenomorphs and Predators spreading through all worlds as they were given Gummiship technology by the Bad Guy.

It's a bit of a series trope for early game to be more difficult than later parts, but nowhere is it more true than in ReCOM, where you have to ration your basic weapon swings
Then once you level up, it flips around completely, as you can organize your deck into a series of sleights that will obliterate every enemy and boss just by spamming triangle/Y, maybe occasionally waiting to opponent's cards
It can be a certain kind of satisfying, but if it doesn't click with you, I suppose you could also just reduce the difficulty, that could be a good compromise between playing it legit and just watching the cutscenes, can't confirm myself as I've only played it once on proud mode

re:com is good cause it forces people to drop the "spam the attack button" playstyle, once you get that then the game opens up to you. My advice would be to again embrace its system and just experiment with what offers, which actually is the same advice for every KH game, as most people play it with a weird "i need to hold on this resource/gauge/whatever cause you never know!!" and end up using no items, no magic, no anything but the attack button. Which especially sucks in com (but the other handheld games as well) cause they have the best abilities in KH game which are never there in the main numbered games, like you get a fire tornando or a time stop keyblade slash or triple firaga etc etc.

tldr don't fight the system and on level ups prioritize learning new sleights, and don't be afraid to use them in normal encounters. Boss fights can instead be completely trivialized by making a deck full of fire cards (or blizzard cards, for that one boss that is immune to fire), cause fire is a homing projectile (which follow bosses even when they go somewhere you couldn't normally reach them) and you can easily spam unstoppable firaga sleights with it.
Also, slight spoiler but the game has two main story modes, one with Sora and one with another character (which you unlock after finishing the mode with Sora). There are some gameplay differences but the main one is that the other character has fixed decks per world, so you don't have to deal with deck customizing (which in some cases does more harm than good, but it's usually good enough)

i only started thinking about it when not-Master Xehanort showed up on KH3's marketing cycle to personally present the movies he worked on at Disney, which are BH6 and Tangled. The other movie he produced? Treasure planet

in any case i think it's just a "sure but what toys would it sell?" kind of thing if it was ever pitched to disney, same with stuff like jungle book and whatever. I think that more or less there's no real "literally who" movie featured in KH, everything was either about being a recent release (or related to, like KH had world on movie 1 while movie 2 was about to be out) or something they could capitalize on (ie princess movies), and treasure planet is like THE movie that made disney go "let's stop doing these" given it was when they decided to just shift to 3D CGI movies. It's unironically the black cauldron of the 2000s, though a much better movie imo

Chain of Memories is easily the best-written game in the series, but if you don't like the gameplay from the start then you're never going to. Aside from the rules getting a facelift at the halfway mark (which I preferred, but not everyone agrees), combat never really evolves past the basic rule set. You get more sleights and modifier cards, but you're still just breaking cards the whole time. Also the game is a LOT longer than you think it is, so it really overstays its welcome.

I've certainly never wanted to go back and replay it. But obviously you should at least watch a cutscene compilation. The events of CoM frustratingly only get more and more important as the series goes on which makes it even more frustrating that Sora STILL doesn't remember what the fuck happened there.
