Time for the final part, which is mostly a boss rush.
Went with commander mode since it fits well with my team. Everyone (except Muse) has high LP so they can get knocked to 0HP many times and not die permanently. My physical attackers sparked a powerful formation technique in which they all attack together to deal big damage.
You're forced to kick out one of your party members to make room for some kid who joins temporarily even though you can't use him in the final battle, so the old lady is gone. Now for the final final dungeon.

I think the best way to use Muse in a normal first playthrough is to give her one-handed swords because one of the strongest techniques does not depends on the user's strength (and she can learn it herself). In commander mode she only uses magic, though.
I'm not doing a super fast playthrough this time but it's still only ~6 hours since I skipped some quests and know where to go, so training Muse would be too much effort. Not only do you need to grind up her weapon levels, her SP or MP will lag behind and she'll be out of ammo after a couple attacks. I also didn't bother learning the strongest techniques for the other characters, since I'd have to spam attacks until a character gets a flash of inspiration.

In the final battle I can only use five characters, including my MC who is throwing items from offscreen, so I use this formation. Most of the boss' attacks are directed at Muse or at the elephant. I don't care if the elephant gets KOd because characters get revived with 1hp in Commander Mode until they run out of LP, and he has an insane amount of LP (36). As for Muse I need to avoid letting her fall to 0HP as much as possible because she only has 6LP. Muse will try to cast spells every turn in Commander Mode but she doesn't know any magic so she will defend instead (can be utilized with better mages if they run out of MP). I also gave her the armor that has the highest defense at the cost of doubling the cost of using skills. It's game over if everyone goes down at once, so I keep Muse alive as a standard-bearer of sorts while the others take a beating. I mainly use formation techs at the start of the fight and conserve SP for the final form. And so Muse wins by doing absolutely nothing.

I think it looks fine for the most part, but the original version looked good for a snes game. There are a couple parts that look off in the remaster and the borders around the army battle minigame are lame.
The vita version is also mostly OK but has slight load times when going to other areas and sometimes before enemies use certain attacks. There's major slowdown when casting spells in one minor optional area.
Also I believe the pixels are stretched to match the vita resolution which makes the sprites looks off, this really bothers some people.

Yep, the very final ones during that infamous stream where they announced Coven at the end and left the Vita version out. I'm still mad.

This and the Penny-Punching Princess were released initially as digital only titles IIRC, but a very small print of physical releases happened some time later. PPP might have actually been a US exclusive in that regard, not soo sure if there was a limited edition for Vita in EU.

And yeah, fug NISA for ONCE AGAIN LIMITING THE PLATFORMS OF A RELEASE by just being greedy and incompetent fucking assholes. I verty specifically avoided getting Vanilla 7 because I knew there was going to be a complete edition around the corner.

Turns out my quest for games that are readily available yet not displayed on Vita store was not over. I had to get my PS3 yet again to find the PSP version of Continuum Shift 2. I decided to get it in the end, despite earlier thinking I wouldn't need it.

After all these years I finally own the Vita version of UNIST.

Since it doesn't work on Vita TV I need to handle the business on my Slim at some point to the point where I can actually download it on it since it takes so much space, but I'm glad I can finally indulge in all the UNISTposting with good conscience, I always loved this one in particular.

Of course I need to find the time to actually play it, too, but at least now it's there when I need it. The price kind of stings when you remember how cheaply it was sold on PS4 back in the day while the Vita version never went on a sale, but at this point I'm just glad I finally actually bought it.

After quite a lot of grinding, farming gear, bashing my head against the wall and trying various teamcomps i finally 100% cleared the first dungeon travellers, Angra is dead and 100% of the monsters were book'd. This was really fun. Gonna get the sequel this instant. Final Team was Samurai Tamaki, Ma-Ryan JK, ilfa Kunoichi and Haruka Mainstream Idol. Won by the skin of my teeth with Ilfa dealing the last 5k using the powers of shadow clone bullshit and jutsus, naruto would be proud. I love dungeon crawlers and anime girls so much man

The worst part is the jump from floor 19 to floor 20-endgame. I could clear the forest, the battlefield and the 30 floors tower (with a lot of pain) but i got stonewalled by the sub-bosses in 20 and the entire dark cathedral area was a no go zone unless i saved like every step. Once i got some levels up, from 40 to 65 and got some drops from the cathedral bosses things started looking up. TH Karin mvp, got me entire equipment sets and dunked on filthy penguins/bears with frost and para. Total playtime was 69h35m, from the beginning to stabbing the shopkeeper and watching the ending.

The sad thing is that this doesn't actually feel all that... special, to the point I was expecting, at least. Maybe all the delaying and the sudden reason to hurry up made it that way, but at least now I've bought it. Now I shouldn't have anything left anymore, only if I somehow would reason myself into buying the first Uta digitally for its full price, then I might still get that, but I don't think that's likely.

And the sad thing is that I don't even get to play this one yet, I need to make room by playing that gosh darn Valkyria Revolution first, and I spent this morning just grinding levels in Disgaea 3. But it is there, and it will be ready once I decide to take the plunge. I would have never even bought it had I not spent so much time in here and pondered on the idea for so long. So in a way, I'm kind of happy I actually decided to buy it even though it was already available for a lower price during sales and such, I just really wanted it for Vita, specifically, performance issues and all.

In a way it feels like an end of an era, but actually it's just the start of the post-game, I think. Let's play even more Vita games from now on!

Initially I was not even going to get it, after having played Sophie I thought I wouldn't care for any more of the back then new Atelier stuff, so I decided against getting it. I was also mad that it was digital only after Shallie Plus actually got a proper physical release, and since it never went on a sale I never even thought of getting it again. It was also the reason why I didn't even download that one cool theme that was made available for free during the launch period, because I was so sure I wouldn't care about it, despite already having downloaded a bunch of free themes I have effectively never used.

Time went on and it became clear Vita specific sales would never happen again, and after the first news of the storefronts closing it naturally got me thinking of all the things I should get before it actually happens, and it lead to a bunch of spending sprees thinking that those ones are going to be the last, and then ending up not being that since I always found something else to get. At that point I had already been affected by the Firisposting in these threads, to the point that I was actually warming up to the idea of getting all the Vita Atelier games, since I had bit the bullet and bought Ayesha for a full price earlier. I decided to make Firis the final purchase I would make, but since the asking price was the full price, it took me a long while to actually get to it since I wanted to save it for a time when the time would feel right and I would have enough excess funds to splurge on it. Turns out that time got postponed time and time again, just like many other things in my life because the time "didn't feel right".

Then I saw that the game's product page on the web store didn't work anymore, and it made me lose my shit thinking that it had been delisted, since it was also lost on the price tracking site I use to check on sales. Thankfully it was still available when searching the actual store, and I decided to just finally get it over with so I wouldn't actually lose my chance to get it. So I ended up buying a bunch of PSN vouchers with a pay-later scheme, and I managed to get enough funds to buy all the remaining ones I still had left on my to-get list. I need to pay all of them when my next round of neetbucks comes around.

It's been years at this point when this whole thing started, time goes by so fast these days and at this point Firis has indeed been a game I've wanted for a long time, I just kind of ended up postponing getting it to the point where I could not make the final purchase through the webstore anymore and now I'll have 0,10€ on my account that I'm likely not going to be using on anything due to the straight credit card payments having been discontinued years ago. But hey, at least it's now all done, and when the time comes I can just download it and boot it up without having to worry about the price any longer.

I highly regret selling both my PSP and PSVita. Is the Vita backwards compatible? Really the only exclusive i wanna play on there is LittleBig Planet Vita but i also want to play the Jak & Daxter and Ratchet & Clank games on PSP along with Patapon and other PSP titles.
