It took a while to get the materials for all these compact storage units, but it wasn't as painful as some survival crafting games at least. The grind here is light and fairly kind on the player.
I was pretty shocked to see the corrupt robots can raid your base though. I mean, I was grateful for the free Hearts of Corruption and Gate Runes, but for the first time my defences needed my help to win. Usually I can just let my teslas handle any unwelcome visitors in the background.

That got me too, until I explored and realised you have to fix two of the smaller stations outside of that room. One near Abe and Janet, and the other deeper in the facility.

Am I wrong or are most food recipes just kinda useless? There's so many recipes but it feels like they're pointless. Seems like all you need is the salad wrap, it's easy to farm the ingredients and has a lot of hunger/thirst fill, and doesn't spoil.

I just restarted all four reactors and I'm also doing this. I also farmed materials to built a lot of compact crates and will now work on fishing, upgrading old gear, improving defences and a bit of redecorating.

rootbear floats are 25% faster shits for 10 mins, nice when i'm hanging out at base crafting anyway so i can make more mugnades a bit faster. kizz is nice too if you roll the instant shit buff.

The salad wrap definitely spoils. I would only take two with me because the third one would spoil before it would be useful. My current playthrough has food decay at a minimum so those will probably come in handy once I get the containment unit.
I'm not really sure what the point of the oven stuff is, though. Sure, you can restore more hunger, but then you always have to carry a water bottle. I always found it was easier to just carry two soup bowls.

Some of the guns seem okay, I recently upgraded the combat shotgun and it improved the damage and removed the dumb biometric requirement.
But the best guns in the game are the ones you build out of random shit. The most upgraded version of the crossbow is a death machine. You can fuck over Gatekeepers with a stealth headshot.

Different anon, but I never felt subnautica was in any way scary (though I admit my arsehole tightens a little in the deeper parts of crash zone). Maybe it's because I've always loved underwater areas in games, but the whole thing was a pretty comfy experience.

I wish I did the Deatomizer + Laser Collector in my inventory sooner, feels like I wasted a lot of times in the Reactor killing the tanky enemies with other guns.
Any other weapons I should make that are really OP? I've been mostly using the Laser Katana as my primary melee, Laser Pistol to break stuff and kill weaker enemies and Antique Shotgun as my former primary gun.

Question, if I can see an item in crafting recipes but don't have any, does that mean I've seen it somewhere?

I'm also at Reactors and it's falling off a bit, but Carbon Pickaxe combined with the running attack perk from Blunt has been very strong. I can one tap any resource node or crate, one tap most mooks/rats with headshots, twotap the Gate mooks, and still do decent damage to the big bastards. you need bait otherwise you won't catch them. you need to catch one standard fish first to get the ideas for the bait for the rare variants. there are a couple of exceptions, like chordfish don't have bait so you need the fog lantern. inkfish don't have bait so you need the night helmet crafted from the sigil at the bottom of the inkwell which you need the diving suit for (maybe there's another way i never tried)
once you got the correct bait the time of day helps, most of them are night dusk. moonfish seemed to really pick about that, i could never catch any before 9pm

The speed boost depends on how much radiation you are currently absorbing or the amount of radiation you have already absorbed (whichever is higher). If you are clean of radiation, placing something in a shielded slot will not give you any speed as you are not absorbing any rads, you actively need be irradiated for it to work.

I had no idea you could dismantle the Rise egg and cultivate it as a crop. This makes getting eggs super easy now, since there's always three in my vegetable patch. Milk is the only pain in the ass thing to get, and I've made a portal straight to the Exor village for that (and the other great resources there).

Don't forget the Nutrino Emitter negates local radiation, allowing you to freeze radioactive meats.
