As for the suicide thing. I think a lot of guys are just mindbroken from how life has treated them, I think KS is more likely to bring them back from the edge than push them over but it could go either way for sure.

To me this picture, represents and fulfills the absolute entirety of Hnako's character. One can see her sadness and isolations very clearly, the somber look on her face, the overall dark color palette, her head is in a downward pose, reminiscing of one experiencing great grief, her hands, tucked away, their palms folder. Everything alludes either to pulling away/ retracting or to a downward motion, in both cases a movement to something lower. The walls around her remind us of a castle, a place to hide away in and not only that but to keep others away. It is obvious that this is a metaphor about Hanako's life, she is tucked away, hidden and unreachable by others. But I would go as far as to say that the most important detail of this work of art is her eye. The little hole through which she sees the whole world. She is looking at us the viewer. And is it a look of anger? Maybe she just cried, so of sadness? It is really up to interpretation, but I see a look of hope. She is asking " Will you help me, will you listen, will you understand? ". And here we must also ask ourselves, "Will you help Hanako is you see her on the street, will you listen to the random stranger if he is in need. Will I understand someone who desperately seeks connection. " This is what makes me consider the author of this piece a genius. For we are faced with such a situation every day, when we interact with our fellow man. A stone cast at another, is a stone cast at Hanako.

I know a lot of people hate the heat but for me it isn't that, it's the fact that there's more light. I live north of the 60th parallel so summers are very bright (and not that hot) but winters are the opposite; really fucking dark. It affects my mood severely. Everything feels wonderful in the summer, solely because of the light. Evenings have already darkened... right now sun rises at like 6 AM and sets at a bit after 8PM. Well, I can skate again in the winter, that's fun at least.

but all of them are really close in terms of enjoyment except maybe kyoto which just has too many people at the tourist places and the public transport system there is terrible
and in kyoto pretty much everything closes after 17:00 so you are just left in a mostly dark empty city outside of the main roads after that

As someone who has actually been to Sendai and think of it as a beautiful place, there's little that makes it "the Katawa Shoujo city" other than the train station backgrounds.
Aoba Castle's hill is too close to the city itself to be the same hill Yamaku is supposed to be on, and the hill backgrounds are from two other locations in Central Japan and Shikoku.
Perhaps it is best to assume this story could take place in just about any provincial city in Japan where life is slow, even for a youth, and there's plenty of time to think about yourself and others

I can agree that it has become difficult to love Kyoto due to the amount of tourists, but tourist traps aside, the northern half is gorgeous and so are the surroundings, all the way to the northern sea (the Sea of Japan coast is so underrated, and you won't find Westerners in places like Amanohashidate).

Hey /ksg/, let's play character creator. What would be the next Katawa you would use to populate Yamaku?
Only rule is that the condition has got to be previously unrepresented and of course itself has to be serious to warrant the transfer.

I'll start with a girl that had to undergo Colostomy due to injury to her intestines. This is a operation where the poop tunnel gets rerouted to the opening in the stomach that ends with external removable poop bag, usually due to cancer/infection/damage to the intestines.

Meet the INTESTINE-CHAN

While around her dad's house construction site she slipped and fall onto somewhat protruding concrete's reinforcing bars resulting in body puncture in her lower abdomen. The first penetration was where lower intestine twists and bends. Initial infection left the affected stretch of intestine overreacting resulting in constant brown alarms, thus the only solution was another surgery that rerouted the healthy part of the intestine through the stomach to external fecal matter collection bag. The first deeper and second shallower puncture penetrated where her ovaries were, thus leaving her permanently infertile.

She would arrive at Yamaku near simultaneously with Hisao, and after they meet and judge each other to be the safe ground, they become the ersatz normal* (*healthy at first glance) friends they both used to have. I'm thinking plot would progress around her feeding Hisao lies about her "eating disorder" being nothing but genetic lottery because she doesn't feel like breaking the facade. That's until she reaches the point where she feels she can't lie anymore to somebody she's considers a friend. She may also join/create the swimming club, but I'm not sure weather that's fitting place for them to hang around.

Her arc overall would revolve around dissolving the taboo she'd built around her injury (unlike other girls it's intimate area of body) and acknowledging & accepting the change that is both acquired and recent, as opposed to predetermined or previously accepted. This is kinda "the problem must be in your pants" route that we never got that's also gender swapped. While I can still see her being able to be sexually active, in a healthy way of course. I don't think she would want that to happen as she will be withdrawn* (*asexual?) in these matters. So if any segz scenes were to happen they would be minimal exposure; Trousers pulled slightly down and panties to the side, as to hide the shit bag and post surgery scarring.

Got me thinking but I disagree. Obviously, she's gonna be the "trap route"; There must be something off because it looks to good to warrant Yamaku. So initially you would have no idea what you're getting into, unless you begin to connect the dots yourself along the way. While her condition is not smelly or unsanitary, it has some shock value to it. I get it that for some it would be hard, but it's what love is ultimately about. To accept someone unconditionally getting past their flaws and oddities. Every Katawa in the eye's of normies is deal-breaker of some sort on what's acceptable. I'd say having to love hugless, absent-mined, mid-looking girl would be a tougher exercise for me than doing the same to the (initially) lie-coated shit-purse. Tho, there should be a neutral ending if you don't want to get past the purely platonic feelings.

Mari, a girl diagnosed with Tourette's. While not a particularly physical condition, it can be quite disruptive and socially alienating if the tic is bad or vulgar enough, which would perhaps warrant transfer to an environment such as Yamaku. While such an environment is an improvement over a typical school, the nature of her tic still gets in the way of fitting in as it impacts communication; she feels out of place, much like Hisao, but from the other angle of approach. This causes her to keep others at an arm's length and fear socialising aside from class "friends" and members of her club (music?). She and Hisao become friends by chance, perhaps he joins her club in a pinch to fill in for a bass player who flaked (after being given the easiest line to play ever) for a performance at the school fair. As their relationship progresses, her tic improves, and she begins to push herself a little more to make friends. Overall her life is improved with the unconditional support of Hisao. But when exams and graduation loom, the stresses eventually reverse the progress she's made, sending her into a mental breakdown where her fears are all but confirmed; she'll never get over it, she'll never be able to manage in the real world, and as a result she pushes Hisao away, almost hiding from him. She spends no time studying due to the rut and combined with a perhaps not-so academic streak behind her, is set to fail her exams and have to repeat the year. Insert some silly, perhaps dramatic contrived sequence here where they repair their relationship and she manages to speak at lenght, entirely clearly for the first time in a long time. Hisao deliberately fails his exams to follow her into repeating the year maybe hammer it home by having a bittersweet interaction with Emi or Shiz and Misha, and roll credits.

Schizophrenic katawa. She sometimes sees and hears shit that isn't there, suffers delusions and hates taking her meds. When lucid, she is crazy for Hisao.

She slowly works him into her delusions when not sane and his character in those delusions is based on your choices and decides whether or not she recovers and gets with him or if she spirals and is ultimately lost to madness.

Cool Katawa you got there anon. Tourette's spectrum gives a lot of possibilities for writing freedom. The social disasters she would engineer would be a blast to read through. At her lowest she might spiral into Coprlalia (sluring like a sailor) or Echolalia (repeating overheard words).

However failing exams on purpose is very unlike Hisao. Perhaps, instead he could volunteer to stay over the summer and help her study for the retake that's gonna take place at the end of summer brake?

Best i could think of is a girl on a wheel chair, now now bear with me. She has both her legs but cannot walk at all, due to a spine injury or something more severe if we wanna be more dramatic. Its hard to place her personality as most of the things are already portraited by the actual girls so i guess the easy way out would be to have a girl that is actually a handful because of her disability, always being rude to everyone, even those who help her out and would hate her time in the academy. Kenji is a genuinely interesting character beyond just simple comic relief, multilayered and with some things to figure out. He becomes more interesting nowadays when you see what a caricature of an extreme anti-feminist looked like back then. All of his scenes are genuinely funny. He offers some motivational words in a way that nobody else would deliver in the story, and possibly ones that they couldn't. He fills the world of Yamaku and brings a lot of texture, because only talking to potential fuck buddies and adults would make it feel much less like a school and much more like meet n fuck kingdom. I don't think he's the fucking make-or-break for Katawa Shoujo, but he's genuinely a great addition and I can't fathom the idea of not wanting him there.

Go by order of release, SoC then CS then CoP. Dont dive into any mods for your first playthrough, and SoC is not as buggy as people make it seem to be but if you wanna be on the safe side, simply install ZRP, its all you need for your first run. Dont be discouraged by the early firefights where all you can use is pea shooters, it gets better the moment you get something that doesnt look like a toy gun which is like, 15 or so minutes into the game. Last but not least, go blind, dont look up anything about the game, its not hard to follow and you can progress on your own fine and half its beauty is the interactions the player ends up within the game. Sidenote: do NOT grab the Enhanced Editions, they have their own bugs, censorship and other issues so its better to grab the originals.

Firstly, she's kinda the "fail safe option" if you don't spring for the others (or can't get Rins route to trigger) but not disinterested enough to trigger the manly picnic.

Secondly the main way to trigger her route is to follow all the directions the nurse gives you. Physically, she's my type for sure. I tend to go for the loli/petite girls most of the time. Crud threw a fit and had the post hidden, the other devs overruled him and unhid it, Crud removed Niji from her route before fucking off from the project altogether for unrelated reasons, leaving her route and Hanako's in Suriko's hands.
Kind of like when KS had an EncyclopediaDramatica article during the Act 1 release and the article's headline was SPOILERS MISHA DIES right around the time the devs were already harassing A22 over that cheap bit of melodrama behind the scenes; the EDitor didn't actually know this but made an educated guess Misha was going to be Whedoned.

Due to a car accident her spinal cord was damaged. She has to sit in since she was 12 years old. She was pretty social before but just like Hisao her friends slowly left her, while she was a long as time in the hospital. She made no new contacts during that time and her social skills greatly diminished. Her singlefather had to work hard to pay her hospital bills so he also couldn't visit her. Because of that she became pretty depressed and turned to video games to fill the void. Even in Yamaku Academy she met no new friends. Her mood stood in the way. She loves playing online games, so she can socialize without anyone knowing her. She doesn't think anyone could love her like that and turns to visual novels to experience true love.
Not sure if that's too meta.
You'd have to get her out of her fantasy world and show her that love can be found in the real life.
Maybe you could meet her via Kenji, because he rambles about that one girl who only sits in her dark room and forges plans to bring down the patriarchy or something.

Why dedicate your life to one big thing? Doing many small things can be just as fulfilling, if not more so.
I felt similar a few years back. I felt like my life wasn't going anywhere and I considered changing careers, but I actually enjoy my job, even if it doesn't provide me with a lot of fulfillment.
After several months of feeling down, I realized the biggest thing I wanted to do wasn't really accomplish something, but just to help people. I started volunteering on the weekends and I've never felt so much satisfaction.

Dayum, you were quite fortunate it seems, really hit it big. I tend to bring myself down easier than most people i admit but this instance is validated in a sense. My previous jobs were a hassle and i dreaded going to every day. This one, albeit a bit more above minimum wage, its the most chill and pain free one i had yet, i get to fuck around tons while there's nothing to do and my supervisor is on board with whatever we want if need be so its upsetting if i lose all this simply because some old farts, literally, didnt like my tone and yes, this is why my contract renewal is on the line, because people made complains on my tone, shit's fucked.

Combine that with the rough job market and my pretty average range of skills, im not exactly optimistic on finding something equally good if not better, and its also worth mentioning the IT field in general here is not exactly strong. While i do agree that opportunities just show up out of nowhere (hence my current job) there's also the factor of opportunities simply, not presenting themselves which leaves me really cautious. All in all, no matter what i do, i just want it to be an 8 to 4, make me enough money and not being treated like shit, not asking to make a huge career or anything.
