It's kind of annoying but they usually aren't doing much of any mix-up while doing that, only gotta be ready for like 6H or teleport cross-up if they have that.
You can also wait until they fuck up by running out of mana or spells, and if they're just spamming spells on you they're losing HP too.
Usually they need a staff to guard break, most of their spells don't naturally do that.

His 2D which he usually uses to extend his pressure has a somewhat big extended hurtbox at the startup, is still hard to catch though since he can instant-cancel it into spells but it usually comes after a mana recovery, though yeah if he's at a range he's not really in position to do any mix-up, but it's also kind of safe.
He can mix an overhead with 6H if he's not that far away, but that's really slow so you should be able to see it even through all the spells.
As for the rest of the match-up, it really depends on who you play, but most chars can just punch through his stuff and brute force their way in.

Well, you "guessed" wrong for a reason if you keep losing, is not luck, you had to be doing something, either you chose the same option too many times, or were too slow, or whatever option you chose was fake.
There's 0 chance you're playing perfectly and they just chose the perfect answer for you always, so just look at what you're doing and make note of why it didn't work, then figure out what other thing you could've done that would've worked instead.
If you don't know why you guessed wrong then you don't know what you're doing and may have to think why are you doing the thing you're doing.

That's not even the biggest restriction surprisingly, it only hits grounded opponents which means the only way to use it in a combo is with Wild Assault which just scales your combo like crazy and it doesn't work on wall splat either.

Does anyone actually enjoy fighting Slayer? I think it's one of the most annoying matchups on par with HC.

I don't know what is it about Strive characters, but unlike most other fighting games, I get the urge to play pretty much everyone except for like a small few.
Is like, I'm having fun and doing good with the characters I'm playing already, but also want to play the other characters I haven't tried yet too, this has never happened to me with any other fighter, there are fighters I got thousands of hours on but never changed between more than 2 chars at most.

I think it's because while the characters are very simple especially compared to previous iterations, they're also not very alike for the most part. Compare that to SF6 where the charcters are simplified but are also homogenized by the overbearing system mechanics of the drive system. Strive doesn't really have that problem so the characters are easy to pick up for the most part but are also unique enough from eachother to be fun to mess around with.

There is absolutely nothing interesting about fighting Slayer, brings nothing new to the table. We already had a vampire, disappearing dashes and a lot of damage. Now we have another vampire that has disappearing dashes and a lot of damage, but instead he punches people instead of slicing them up.

His gameplan is simple and boring, plus frame and try to mix you up with a whack rekka out of dandy. If he lands a command grab, you get hit harder lol. It's like the devs have no idea how to make an interesting Strive character without them sucking(Testament, Johnny, Bedman, Now Zato), or them being ridiculously overpowered (Asuka, Chaos). I swear this game wasn't made for people to love the game, but just made to appeal to the dopamine hits when you hit someone and 30% of their health chunks out. Such a far way away from Xrd, which I didn't play too much, but is 20x more interesting and charming than whatever product this is.

I was hoping that over time the characters got more enticing, that they wanted to shape the game from what it was (Absolutely terrible), to a pretty good game. But it seems they're moving away from that and just trying to make what sells. I don't fault them for this, but at the same time I'm not the accountant for ArcSys, I want to play a quality product. I wish all the workers the best for their mental health, families, and pockets, but I want to play a good game.

Three of the four DLC in season 3 are extremely underwhelming, ABA had some premise, but just turned out to be a 50/50 nuclear bomb in Jealous rage, and pretty useless when not. Slayer, just boring all around(Mostly because we already have a rekka monster, and a vampire). Elphelt is a rekka monster, also pretty boring. And Johnny is pretty cool.

The competitive scene is stale, Wild assault is a joke, the same boring characters have been strong since release, most characters get the lamest buffs, only the regular cast is getting new moves. The new moves do nothing for the game.

this might sound hyper autistic but i'm trying to completely change my muscle memory and the way i use the keyboard. I mash like crazy and not only it's loud af and i broke two keys but i noticed that when i play my fingers are lifted instead of resting on the keys, especially the thumbs where i have jump and dash macro. This increases the travel speed and makes me slow. So i'm forcing myself to always have the fingers laying down but it's hard af and i'm dropping every fucking combo but i think it's worth it.

Oh I mean more just the faces really, the bodies are ok I think, May is actually really fit for example but you can't tell since her clothes are so baggy; if you ever bother looking at the character models outside of a match (so like in Figure mode or outside the game) you see a bit of weird off-putting anatomy but that's like w/e, you barely if ever see it in-match Unika has a fucked up leg for example.
What I mean is that, the face shapes sometimes look awfully long or wide or their faces look really small compared to their overall head size, sometimes not, since in-game they morph around a lot to deal with that, which means there are key frames were they look great, but there are others where they look really weird, it would be nice if they looked at those weird frames and put them more in line with the good ones, but it's just like a nitpick of mine.
