if they do a repeat of the VEAO situation (Hint: this is not the first time something like this happened), at some point they will drop support for the razbam modules, on the next update they will be removed from your installation, and they will offer an option to either roll back your DCS version to the last one that supported them, or have a 2nd full installation in which they will function.

You shouldn't be aftaid to poop around. Eat more fiber, both soluble and insoluble and remember to drink.
Poops are a 10 second affair with no need to strain/push and you'll barely dirty your asshole so you're free to poop anywhere.
If you're squeamish about sitting on dirty toilets (as you should) just air squat over them or have some disinfectant wet wipes with you.
Jokes aside I never had any issues with pooping around and about. It's liberating. The one time I clogged the shitter at my school the jannies had to physically remove the log. Thankfully I wasn't caught.

After the training missions I started the easy campaign and got btfo at my very first engagement.
I think this is going to be pretty cool.

Try to avoid being a full speed on the campaign map when you start engagements, ideally you want to wait in the path of the enemy and ambush them, but being at half speed isn't the end of the world. Starting the encounter at 5kts vs 20kts makes a big difference on how detectable you are right off the bat. In any case remember to specifically order silent running as soon as the encounter starts.

I like to fire at targets quite early and dogleg the torpedo rather than firing directly at them. That way any counter fire will be in the direction your torpedo is approaching them from rather than at you. Making significant depth changes after launching is another good way to avoid counter fire.
If you need to shoot but think it's likely you'll get detected when you do, pre-emptively fire off a MOSS in a direction away from both you and the torpedoes you launched. The enemies will likely concentrate on that giving you a chance to make your escape. Don't wait until you know you've been detected to launch one as by then it's already too late, a MOSS is much better at preventing you from getting shot at in the first place rather than trying to decoy off hostile vessels and torpedoes that have already found you. In general if you get detected by an enemy torpedo and have to actively try to evade it you've already fucked up big time.
Another thing that's not immediately obvious with torpedoes is that once they go active they are faster, but are also much louder and the runtime is reduced.

I can't remember which campaign is considered the easy one but I actually found the SCS 2000 campaign to be more forgiving when starting out despite the game describing it as hard. You get access to quieter boats with better sensors while most chinese ships are significantly less threatening than the 1984 soviet stuff. Most of the difficulty comes from the number of escort groups you need to dodge and having to operate in shallow waters more often.

Thanks for the hints. It was the 1984 american campaign, as it was described as "Normal" whereas the other two were "Hard". So, fugg :-DDDD

Also, since the manual does an absolute shit job of explaining the campaign map - do I really have to manually move my sub across the map? Can I not plot a course like I can on the tactical map?
Also, what is up with the missions? My very first assignment was to intercept some tankers in the Barents Sea, and starting from Scotland I couldn't even reach that shit in time. Should I just go and fight everything in my way?

Cold Waters is great, remember that your own torpedoes are just as deadly as enemy ones. Also remember that the wire will snap if you go too fast or turn away too much. Just keep playing and see what works and what doesn't. From my experience I either do well or I get completely raped, depth charges are terrifying.

Yes, you'll get used to it pretty quickly but it never really bothered me that much as you don't spend too long on the campaign map anyway.
>I couldn't even reach that shit in time.
The missions you get should be fairly generous time wise so you might have just been unlucky. The campaign map does advance while you're in port swapping weapons so maybe you spent too long doing that?
>Should I just go and fight everything in my way
I prefer to avoid them if I can because they just waste time and ammo but fighting them isn't a huge issue. At least try to avoid the path of patrol aircraft as if they detect you every nearby escort group will make a beeline for you.

It's no use, being near them is enough for them to break. The sparking and puffing in the webm is when they suffer damage. I'm guessing the object isn't updated but instead switched for a damaged version on the fly, which is why it disconnected suddenly and also why damage disengages the straps on a cargo bed (not pictured).

I've seen that in multiple games, it's obviously a downside to physics engines.

Cold Waters is amazingly fun. Once you get into a rhythm you will start doing really well. Sometimes your torpedoes need a little help, so if they're missing, try to guide them until they start tracking. You'll know you're doing well when your enemy starts crapping noisemakers. For surface vessels, your priority is to strike sub hunters. What you can do is fire a MOSS in one direction, then launch torps/missiles and go quiet and deep. Let them chase the MOSS and meanwhile you can take another shot at them. You can also hide directly under the enemy surface ships.

Watch out for helos, especially the ones with dipping sonar.
Anonymous No.538147390 >>538153635
Oh, and one other tactic about Cold Waters: if you're hunting a sub and you have an underwater contact, don't wait to identify it. Fire immediately. Every second they spend trying to dodge your shot, whatever they are, is a second they can't spend shooting at you.

Before you get the indication of where to target?

Just started the 1984 campaign again, because I'm a stubborn retard.
First assignment was to intercept some wolfpack. Had them intercept me.
Turns out it was just a single sub.
Took it out without it ever being able to see me, I think.
Don't quite understand the mechanics about "active weapons nearby" or whatever it is called. It was my own torpedo that was still loitering, so I actually had to move away to be able to leave.
Next was to find some warships.
Seeminly undetected I sent off a MOSS and a bunch of torpedos and missiles towards the two ships I could identify as such. There was a third one that was a merchant ship.
Soon the decoy was swarmed with torpedos (I assume dropped by something), but I was still too close so one of them actually managed to get on my ass.
Dove down, managed to escape it TWICE - one time it passed the tower literally less than a yard away - but eventually it came back and hit me in the ass. Then the next hit me while I was panicking.

Baby steps.

It's cool looking, especially in the PAN version, but I never bothered reading much about it. Boomers are all convinced it was way better as a FT plane than the MB-339, Personally I disagree.
On the combat side IIRC (from a comment under a video) its biggest drawback was trying to meet 1:1 the absurd NMBR-1 requirement of a max empty weight of 6800 lbs which meant no room to grow with MLU etc.
Which was a fatal flaw, Especially when we consider that at the time jets became obsolete in a matter of 5-6 years.
