I think falcom could get mainline global releases if they actually plan around it. gust is able to do global atelier releases now. i think a lot of it just comes from falcoms indecisiveness with the script up until release it seems. i'm not entirely sure how the gungho situation happened but it seems that falcom is willing to finally change their ways. the thing that bothers me the most about this entire situation is that for years kondo has been saying hes heard the concern of overseas fans and wanted to speed the process up but the mainline has always been lagging behind. from what we know the delays are from falcom giving the west shitty contracts and refusing them to even begin with on them until after it comes out in Japan. It's so odd because for whatever reason CLE is able to put out their releases a month or 2 after I think and those games are translated in both Korean and Chinese. so i'd imagine the west would be able to put out the games quicker if they were given a similar deal that CLE has. Maybe thats the reason why sky is a global release. falcom is really coming out swinging with the sky remake with the game being a global release on a new engine with all ports being done in house by falcom.

i dont think the english dub or durante port would add any significant delays as long as they are included in the inception of the project back in Japan. most of the kiseki games aren't even voiced anyway so the dubs shouldn't be that substantial compared to other jrpgs. pretty sure every modern atelier is all voiced for the most part outside of a small handful of events and dlc content.

the sky remake proves that falcom is able to do a global release, the sky remake even had additional content so they added to the script while working with gung ho. i just feel at the end of the day it comes back to falcoms ability to cooperate to get the project done.

We just grew up. Final Fantasy IX felt like an epic tale at the time but if you play it now most towns are 1 pre-rendered screen and big cities are 5 of them stitched together. It all feels claustrophobic, tiny and not satisfying at all.

This is the kind of terrible raw deal the aureole represents, but it's not necessarily so direct. it can provide real actual dreams, but in those dreams, the aureole is simply simulating things. it doesn't and cant offer you any connection with others in that state, or perhaps, was prevented from doing so by the societies rules. It's up to speculation how much individual effective anesthesia for the human condition to desire freedom, exploration, romance, connection, etc. each person could expect, but the fact that their society was so organized and powerful suggests that it was a resource that was contested heavily.

That worked as well as it did because Kevin's story is really, really good. I think people are vocal about saying a straight up dungeon crawler doesn't work for Falcom, and many said how glad they were that Reverie had a "main story" separate from the dungeon.
