Fucking with investors is a good thing when it comes to general accessibility. Something like the Mulcharmies are game pieces that are gated by high prices, making them more easily accessible fucks investors who benefit from the stranglehold the lack of access of said cards has on the market.
This version of fucking with investors seems oddly pointless? It's not like Pot of Greed was a difficult card to get to begin with and the vast majority of players don't really give a shit about the card and would hardly want to get the product specifically for a Starlight Rare Pot of Greed.
The true problem is that Konami is fucking the investors in the wrong way. What SHOULD be the case is that Konami makes a card more readily accessible but keeping the special rarities under wraps to ensure collectors and investors have something they can enjoy the exclusivity of long after the card gets reprinted to death in other sets.
Like at this point why doesn't Konami just reprint all the old Ultimate Rares and Ghost Rares in case newer players want them? Maybe even throw in some of the old misprints like the Rainbow Dragon Chaos Neos stuff. The sky is the limit when you stop giving a shit

Wow does Zexal have far and away the most amount of unsupported decks in this hyperspecific category. It also gets egregious when you consider that Geargia, Fire Fist, Sylvans, Wind-Ups and Inzektors all saw consistent meta play as their own decks meanwhile the only consistent main-show meta-wise for the other series is 5Ds's Karakuri. It's understandable when Konami forgets decks that never did anything, it's weird when they leave literally tiered decks to rot for almost a decade

I was replying to this in the last thread w/o realizing. Geargia, Artifact and Sylvan used to rule the game in TCG, and have gotten absolutely nothing. Geargia got that awful TCG SD and some meme cards imported in SHVI, Artifact has only ever gotten a card or two meant to FTK people since release (the link and mjollnir), Sylvan has had 2 extra deck cards that are for rank 1 box and plant soup, not a single maindeck card since Zexal era. Hieratic holds the trivia king title of never appearing in a mainset after its debut one. Karakuri at least got a respectable mainset wave in IGAS but they've been completely cast aside from there.

Really all of these decks (outside of Triamid/Hazy Flames/Chemicritter who only have ironic fans) are well loved. It's a shame how hard most have been abandoned. iirc Digital Bug even has a Master Duel story mode and they didn't do anything with it.

Fuck man I don't even think most of the above will exist as a rarity. This shit will be long dead by then. I meant that with my whole heart, even if Yugioh doesn't die from what it currently is doing, Konami are stubborn enough to do nothing to introduce new players and run the game into the dirt before they reach the 35th or 40th.
Yugioh as we know it will probably reboot proper once most of the old executives strangling the game finally kick the bucket and people with some actual foresight see that the current model isn't sustainable long-term without new blood being injected into the game. To do so you need to have more easily learnable gameplay, easier to access cards, and/or a gameplay loop that doesn't involve an actual hour being dedicated to maybe 10 turns in the entire Round

Geargiaccelerator is an easy to break card, they just have to try. HAT format Geargia-Karakuri can go off and summon 4 in a turn while making the machine/big synchro/xyz goodstuff of the time. Gear Gigant is their theme's card, they could easily give them like a Poplar that SS's something else and itself when added from deck/gy to hand.

TLDR: How do you guys decide what rarity to pick up from each card?

I wasn't a huge fan of QCRs but picked up a few like base Yubel, Neos etc.
Now there are starlight bystials, I already have secrets, but they are currently the same price, thinking it might be worthwhile to get them, but idk.
Collectors and PURs are great I think, but they tend to curl worse, especially PURs.
Secrets I like because most good cards are secrets so they mesh well with the rest of my stuff that is coming out in normal sets.
I'd rank them probably as normal ultis #1, RC ultis #2, collectors #3 secrets #4 maybe.

I'm really just looking to downsize and keep a lean collection, but I keep getting trapped in these looped thoughts of wanting everything because of indecision.
Subjective shit is the death of me.
Also "max rarity" is another killer. I like heroes, but why should I bother picking up all kinds of QCRs that I find look like shit just have max rarity...

If a deck can be made in all super/ultra then I'll go for that and then if a higher rarity version of a certain card from said deck comes out in higher rarity I don't bother picking it up because it'll ruin the continuity.
Likewise if I had to pick up a certain card or two in an archetype that wasn't printed in the same rarity as all the rest I try to replace it with a reprint that does match the rarity of the other cards as soon as such a thing becomes available.

Time rules were discussed to death, the new rules are objectively better.

The time rules change is great both logistically for running tournaments, and also gameplay wise because it makes it so niggers do not play for time. As for the top 8 and swiss round changes, it makes getting the top cut at large events actually feel more prestigious in a way. Top standings prizing is still a thing, but this means that the people who actually do well in the tournament will win events more often than niggers like Trif who sneak in at spot 32 and then proceed to get lucky in top cut.

Really dislike how the game immediately ends when time is called instead of End of Phase, since anything except lethal is a game loss, the only instance in which this comes up is if you have lethal but time won't let you perform the final burn or attack to end game
