Rouge still gets to be herself around everyone. Her comraderie with Shadow and tsundere attitude with Knuckles (it's not like I wanted your emerald, baka!) maintains the core concept of her character of avoiding getting too close to keep her freedom.

Silvaze is antithetical to Blaze's entire character and only exists for the sake of overly-romantic wank. I don't care how "relevant" she is. Their dynamic sucks. They scream at each other when they meet then it's "uguu look how in sync they are" and Blaze has to play babysitter. It's the complete opposite of what I want from her character, I like that she's aloof and antisocial and insecure. Silvaze requires you to ignore or erase her relationship with Sonic because it's functionally identical, but all her lore is related to Sonic. Silvaze has no space for Marine other than being a nuisance or shipper.

Because of how Japanese culture and business politics are, this along with every other Japanese IP is doomed to inevitably lose more and more of their identity as the old heads retire because it's seen as disgraceful and disrespectful to change or fine tune things after the original creator/team leaves.

Once Iizuka and Kishimoto leave ST, this franchise is simply doomed and I don't mean doomed in the sense that it's just going to end all of a sudden.
