Beast at hidden path 2 dies after +/- 10 attacks, hit it few times when it's asleep and run to the left to move to hidden path 1 to avoid it's rollout attack, after 3 growls the beast goes back to its initial position, go back, hit him once and escape to the left, repeat until he dies.

Lost to her once, beat her ass second try. Don’t get greedy, usually one or two hits per opening (besides stagger of course). Jumping+dashing immediately after hitting her will dodge most of her moves. The slam is an excellent opening, dash out if you need, dash in the second she touches down to punish. Super fun boss.

Stay near the walls. He will always stop if he hits the wall charging horizontally, he only goes back and forth if you're in the middle of the room.

You can get him to kill his own adds with his vertical charges.

Once you realize these two things the fight becomes much easier.

For early game there's those three pilgrims right outside of the right exit of the halfway house in the cave. nets ~29 beads for like 2 seconds of walking and you can use your silk spear to insta gib them every other runback since they're all in a line

lava does 2 damage
she parries more often in her final phase
she follows every successful parry up with an ult in her final phase (this is likely assured death unless you get lucky and you can dash escape)
there's plenty of heal opportunities after most of her attacks as long as you heal immediately and you're prepared to jump out of her next attack

i ran past it, found the locked door & the mask shard, then the vomit killed me on my way out

- is it worth it to grind 500 rosaries for a key to open the door?
the pogo jump to get there was easy so i assume this is only a minor sequence break, but i don't want to waste time on something i'm not prepared for

I beat him without sprint or whatever the other anon is talking about.
You have to stay just in the sweetspot range to be able to move in a little for 1 or 2 hits then move back just a little to react to if he's going to swing or jump at you.
If he's about to swing you either have to have pretty good positioning and move away or slightly easier is to jump away, you can dodge the more horizontal swing's hitbox with a jump.
If he is going to jump at you, you just walk towards and under him.
I'm clearly getting old because the reaction time to.. React to those tells seemed a little tight, but it's doable. If you misjudge a tell you just eat shit.

just realized I skipped a boss because I entered Greymoor from Bellhart's side. Well I did enter from the Far Fields but I didn't reach the boss, I went and explored Mosshome which led to Wormways and I got to Bellhart from there.
Only realized there was supposed to be a boss there when I watched a streamer play it. Whoops

Am I supposed to be at the 400 shell shard cap for a while before I have any use for it? I donated 200 to the quest board guy and that's it. Haven't found any way to craft tools or whatever yet. Already wasted a bunch of shard pickups because of the cap.

I actually use spells less than in HK because of how healing works now. In HK your spells and healing were roughly equal cost. Now healing needs 90% of you thread.

Just go to the bar, sit on the bench and run to the right and kill the 3 pilgrims, then rest again, 29 per run, faster by a bit.
Also you don't really need to kill them, they stay still long enough to run past easily.

Can someone explain exactly what keyboard inputs (assuming default keyboard config) I need to do to do a 2nd plunge attack after I start spinning from the first plunge attack?
I'm not sure if it's because I'm playing without a controller but I seem to lose control of my character after the first plunge sends me into the spinning animation and I can't input a 2nd plunge. All I can do is control the air movement.

I sure love bosses that just summon more adds with no rythm so RNG fucks you up and you have no safe way out and end up taking 4 damage

About how far in do you get double jump and wall jump? Putting markers on the map to remind myself and I'm curious.

I'm disappointed in the lack of verticality so far (12 hours in, still on act 1). I was expecting something like SOTN or Jump King (strange comparison yes) but on turbo-steroids where you just go up and up and up and up with the areas stacked on top of each other.

I'm at greymoor right now and so far the map is mostly horizontal. The act 1 objective is barely any higher than greymoor as well, but isn't it supposed to be the citadel at the peak of Pharloom? It's not a very high peak of that's the case. I'm hoping that it's just bait and there's loads of areas higher up.

Game is still amazing thoughever.

why the fuck would I ever use the beast crest, it feels like a downgrade in every way

So they move away from the more exploration heavy world design of HK1 (so many of these levels so far have just been a vertical hallway with short paths leading outwards) to focus on a combat system that is just... like that? Hornet has zero knockback on any of her attacks compared to The Knight meaning you'll just get combo'd even when you're attacking, the iframes are noticeably shorter and the platforming is somehow even less engaging than the first game. Sure the movement is pretty sweet, I love the dash and the cape, but platforming sections in HK1 felt like even if you messed up if you were fast on your feet you could readjust thanks to things like being able to pogo off enemies/spikes in the area which they've skipped out on totally this time around. Feels like a big step back.

Every enemy being as aggressive and complex as lategame HK bosses is one thing, but having them all hit for 2 masks is pretty tiresome. They're not even that hard if you're using your skills it just gets to a point, you know? I fought the Fly boss everyone was bitching about and he's really very simple (though the dogshit adds basically leave your victory entirely down to chance with what mobs he spawns in and whether he does the downward slam to kill them for you) but the main issue is my reward was that my entire moveset changed and it unequipped all my charms, neither of which I had any say over. What this ended up meaning is that I was left with a truly dogshit downward swipe with a hideous angle I was completely unfamiliar with, so I just died on the way out trying to pogo off flowers and lost like 500 beads.

Looks gorgeous though and the soundtrack is killer. Maybe it's the early adjustment period but I don't really see any gameplay aspect of this that doesn't feel like a regression or a sideways move.

That one has a charm and something else in it. The locked door above bone bottom leads to a zone with the crest that gives you hollow knight's moveset. Down pogo and quick attacks but shorter range.

So I went from Fourth Chorus to turning in the flea quest and arriving at Bellhart. Where do I go? Shellwood? Greymoor? I don't know what the natural progression was supposed to be.

I am also getting rather pissed at how every area seems to have fewer enemies that drop beads the more I progress. Shellwood wants 60 beads for a rest bench? Shellwood has no beads, so Shellwood gets nothing.

I ended up backtracking to Far Fields which naturally took me to Greymoor. I assume that will lead to the exit I was at near Bellhart so I would then continue to Shellwood. Enemies actually give beads in Greymoor which is nice.
