Freja is a poorly designed hero. Who thinks of a crossbow as a rapid fire weapon? The crossbow has always been a slow fire weapon with high penetrative power compared to a bow. And yet in Overwatch, Hanzo operates as a crossbow would, and Freja as a bow would (liberally).
Shooting a dozen rapid fire crossbow bolts feels weak and unrewarding when they do very little damage. Having to play around an explosive bolt feels even worse because it's all of your damage. As a result, Freja suffers with one of the worst win rates in the game because they fundamentally misunderstood what a crossbow is.

I remember when Blizzard tried to experiment with novel hero designs and ended up creating Hazard. He almost killed the game because of how overpowered he was. Now what has become of him? He's a niche hero played by very few because he looks putrid and requires dozens of hours of experience to play effectively.
Why does every new hero besides Ram and Wu Yang have such a low pick rate? I think Blizzard is failing to create new heroes people want to play. Too complex with very little reward for playing effectively. They make a zero skill hero (Wu Yang) and he's too strong. They've lost their touch and they need to fix this fast.

How is it an acceptable outcome that all of your new heroes fall into irrelevancy? The developers create solution heroes for competitive tourneys, and then once the meta passes, those heroes become useless since they're operating as gap-stops and were never intended to function outside of that niche. The ~4.0-5.5% pickrate hero has become common place for new additions to the game because Blizzard designs to solve problems rather than building heroes from the ground up to be fun in their own right.

Yes, but they don't give credits anymore. Instead, they give some kind of resource that builds up to a legendary loot box, so you're still incentivized to use credits on all the cheapest stuff that you can so you can get as many duplicates as possible.
