mana remnants works even with minions killed by your minions so you can go MoM and have a ~1500 hit pool of constantly regenerating pseudo ES which helps a lot.
obviously getting 10k ES is better but that requires you wear ES bases and spend a lot more points whereas MoM is good for builds starved for passive points or forced to wear uniques with shitty defenses since getting 1k mana is pretty free

It's clear GGG ran out of ideas for leagues once Bestiary was introduced as a league, ever since than most leagues have been some stupid gimmick from another game. Remember how original bestiary had you capturing beasts as if they were pokemon and how cancerous the nets were?
Syndicate and the OG Synthesis is board game gimmicks,
Blight had tower defense gimmicks.
Metamorph admittedly had the fun gimmick of morphing all the monsters into one, sad it got removed.
OG Harvest was farmville slop.
Heist was a failed attempt at imitating games like Payday.
Sanctum is roguelike slop.
Ancestor is autobattler slop.
Settlers is mobile game slop, no better than World of Warcraft garrisons during WoD.
You can tell the leagues people have fun with are the ones where it's simply killing shit and getting loot rather than niGGGers stealing ideas from other games while failing catastrophically. I have skipped some of the leagues like Necrropolis so maybe there are more leagues where GGG threw shit at the wall seeing what sticks.

Is the iron ring a good item base? I don't know how impactful an extra 1-4 physical damage is

This LA Deadeye is unironically the most closest archetype to my PoE 1 Molten Strike armor stacker in terms of defense layers.
1. Fuck ES, with the nerf of Eternal Youth ES sucks. Just get life on everything for 2200-2500HP
2. ~80% evasion + ~80% Deflection
3. Life per enemy hit on gloves, % recovery on kill from jewels and gems
4. 10% all damage recoup from the node and jewels
5. 30% less from tailwind, 5% phys as ele
6. 3% dmg taken from mana (Heart of the well jewel)
7. all charms with X life recovery and grants X guard
8. Wind Dancer Area of effect + Life Leech
9. A lot of stun threshold
It's fucking invincible, I'm tanking maxed simulacrum like it's nothing. Also, no PoB, fuck you. Think for yourself.

I made a Paquate's Pact build so you don't have to. Not too surprisingly, it sucks. My build has about 1000 strength and all the relevant warcry damage nodes including a bunch of global phys + warcry damage jewels. I convert the strength to energy shield using the timeless jewel so the survivability is actually pretty decent. Barely does enough damage to comfortably clear tier 10 trash and takes ages to kill rares and bosses. Obviously the numbers check out, I was just hoping that with like Bloodhound's Mark and maybe some other blood loss or damage over time scaling it might actually be alright but nope.

Taking any suggestions for other ways to scale the damage but this was more just an experiment than anything else.

It's skills and interactions with either railroaded interaction (LA+LR) and incredibly high base stats (Spark in 0.1).
Have you ever noticed that there's absolutely no flat added damage to spells in PoE 2? This is so it's much easier to force you into playing what they want you to play.
Take a look at every scaling available to Spells: gem levels,inc/more damage, cast speed, crit, crit multi.
These are all strictly tied to the base stats of the Spell.
There is no way to scale any spell in a way not strictly relative to the base.
This is why you can never get something like Ice Nova as a main skill to work, it has dogshit Cast Speed and dogshit Base Damage, as a result, no matter how you try to scale Ice Nova, there will ALWAYS be a Spell that slots right in and does exactly the same thing as Ice Nova but better, because GGG decided that Ice Nova is STRICTLY and ONLY a utility skill for freezing, and they do not want you to actually build around it as a main skill.

One thing that I think Chris Wilson took from classic Magic the Gathering is having a foundational set of effects that you build literally everything else on top of. If you understand just a handful of mechanics, reading the text on the card will let you understand any card.

Path of Exile 2 is more like modern Magic the Gathering which uses a bunch of flavor keywords to describe very specific things that don't interact with anything else. The most egregious example I've seen in 0.3 is the Archon recovery period. It's not affected by buff expiry, it's not affected by debuff modifiers, cooldown recovery rate, literally nothing except "Archon recovery period expires faster" which is fucking stupid.

Making a physical damage bone spell blood witch, I have the damage to kill everything around me, 40k damage per skill with spell cascade making it cast 3 times around me for roughly 120k damage. Damage is set.
I have roughly 2000 energy shield, with my bonus HP from blood remnants I have 4k HP.
You would think with 6k collective HP, I could do a tier 10 map pretty easy.
No... Because for whatever reason a single trash mob doing a single attack cycle does way over 6k damage, considering the majority of the attack I dodge roll through. Not to mention with the abyss, I dodge one group of enemy projectile spam of 10k damage per enemy and land right into another one which spam it on me again anyway.

So what exactly am I supposed to do? Not play in melee range? Okay so no blood remnants and I die after casting my spell a few times, cool.

I try playing monk, and again, melee build get by projectile spam enemies that do over 10k damage each.

Meanwhile, dead eye lightning arrow buddy on the other side of the map accidentally threw a single projectile my way and suddenly the entire wave is gone, cool, so not only is dead eye lightning arrow projectiles totally and completely safe and doesn't even need to see enemies, but also does drastically more damage, coolio.

My bad, I forgot this was the skill twig version of Path of Exile, you're supposed to play what the devs have pathed out for you, not be creative.

I honestly hate spectres the most because the design space and dev overhead they take up is insane for such a small part of the game. I was trying to do ancestral cry hollow palm with ice strike, but it’s hard to get glory with it using three dragons cold to flammability ignite on trash mobs.

For bosses it’s no problem because I ignite them easy and get enough glory after a few attacks, but I can’t figure out how to proc it more often during mapping.

Any ideas? I can’t spec into avatar of fire because I’m ritualist. It’s probably just the wrong ascendancy for this idea…

update on my meme Alpha's Howl+Doryani's prototype Tactician minion build:
there's an incredibly annoying bug where if you're wielding mjolnir (and maybe other 1h maces, I didn't test) and an offhand scepter, trying to use a weapon set 2 Staff for Sigil of Power causes you to lose all your first weapon set's spirit reservation when you switch back, my guess is because scepters are the only item that can be wielded in both the mainhand and offhand that it's only checking your weapon set 2 mainhand to determine spirit.

Since Sigil of Power is literally mandatory on every build with spell hits as a fucking 56% More damage multiplier on bosses, there's no point using mjolnir for memes if it means I'm doing literally 50% less damage, so I unfortunately had to drop it and just use a +3 Lightning Sunsplinter instead. Since storm mages use spells instead of attacks the loss of Watch How I Do It doesn't affect the vast majority of damage, and it now means I'm way tankier since I now have 20% block, plus free Deflection, plus Defend with 200% Armor. I shamelessly copied another guy I saw using Leatherbound Gauntlets+Iron Reflexes to get a ton of armor just from a single item slot so even against phys and lightning damage I'm tanky. I also specced into Mind over Matter with Mana Remnants since literally everything I fight is permanently shocked.
