Augusta can use mortefi, so you don't strictly need iuno (18% more dmg I think). Carlotta would like zhezhi but you can do without her, especially in quickswap (or you can just run yangyang for example). Camellya with just sanhua is already meta. Strictly meta-wise you'll want shorekeeper though, who works with augusta and camellya on their best teams.

A lot of ink has already been spilled on the sex appeal of WW's girls, but one thing that I think WW does better than just about any other developer (gacha or not) that really just doesn't get discussed enough is their mastery of colors.
I have not seen any other game with better color choices in their art direction than WW. They always somehow pick the best shades of a particular color. Iuno's hair for example is probably the most lovely shade of blue I've seen in a character design. It's just so pleasant to look at.
Another example is Carlotta. I don't know how they picked the specific shades of pink and gray that they did when they designed her, but it's just such perfect shades of pink and gray. They somehow found a perfect balance, even though it would have been so easy to fuck it up and make the contrast between pink and gray look so shit, garish and tacky.

Theoretically dps value is:
Cartethyia > Cia's sig > Cia > Carty's sig.
However only Cia can use Cia's sig well so she moves up by default. That's just the small part though. Above is only true for full rotations and just dps consideration. Carte's sig provides huge hp boost to her (important for Fleur who operates at half hp and has lowdef) and has disproportionally larger effect on all her attacks except final ult. That's why Carte's sig is more important and should be obtained before Ciaccona. The only exception would be if you're interested in WhiWa only in which case Ciaccona's value rises a lot.

As for sequences - Yes. Grab s3r1 Carty so she's 100% self-sufficient and solos all content. Remeber you can use wavebands so you only need to roll s1 Carty and can grab remaining 2 sequences with corals. The advantage of this approach is that you have single character one-man-army "full team" which means you have good chunk of endgame coverage secured and can focus on other teams. s3r1 Cartethyia is stronger than full s0r1 teams with three five stars, while being cheaper to obtain.
She's also incredibly comfy to use in overworld at s2+ when her basic attacks do 10k+ damage isntances and plunge does 150k+. I do hazard tower solos with Cartethyia without transforming. I do 3k in WhiWa half with solo Fleur. Typically add Roccia or Encore or Verina to her for bonus cute points.

Started playing because I thought Augusta looked cool and I've been having fun. Caught up to the main story, got her and her weapon but now I'm a bit unsure of what direction I want to go. Part of me just wants to ignore all the endgame stuff so that I can completely ignore pulling for the "must have" support characters that I don't really care for. I think I'll just pull for Iuno so that I at least have a nice duo to fall back on, then go back to saving for characters I really like.

You can very easily get majority of characters if you don't go for sigs/sequences often and if you get just a bit lucky and ignore sigs, you could roll 100% of characters. Definitely possible to play this game for collection purposes, even if it can't compare to likes of Azur Lane.
I skipped quite a few characters but have everyone I wanted to roll and some sequences on my favs, despite being clearly among the unluckiest players (only one early pity as a day1 player).

For support S2 is the biggest stuff as S1 is double chi/forte generation from using her intro and S2 gives 2 uses of the counter to spam quick to help build forte.
S4 is a good boost on her ult but she's still slow on rotations until S6. S2 is really the minnium to use her reaosnably. If you want her to dps and use Iuno then you really want S6.
Won't be the top dps but slap windward on her, run with Iuno plus Cia and have fun one punch monk.

The video that convinced me to play WW was a video of someone proving that he could beat what I believe was the entirety of the game's 1.0 content without doing a single convene. Not even the initial convene that would grant you a free Baizhi. He did all of that and managed to get virtually every Astrite achievement in the game. It made me realize that basically the game (at least up to that point) was balanced around having every cheevo attainable even with your basic F2P team (Rover, Chixia, Yangyang, etc.). Some of the harder TOA achievements were done with like seconds to spare. Needless to say, that guy was really good and fully engaged with the game's mechanics, pushing everything to its limits.
I'm certain the same balancing philosophy applies to later content as well (2.0 onwards), in that you can still do well even with the shittiest 4-star team.

The camera auto adjust (it both zooms in and out) when you are in combat and do certain moves.
