Is there a discord or group I can join to talk starts? I left for one year, and now that I came back I'm having a having a hard time. Before, with my scicle, shield, and quasar, I could reliably do 9 and solo 7. (Feel like my main weapons got nerfed. They feel a lot less satisfying to use.)

I've tried Plasma Punisher, Grenade Launcher, Frag Grenades, Impact Grenades, Gas Grenades, Incindiary Impacts, and the Autocannon. AC works the best at being able to quickly make them surface but that leaves you without any AT options in the tunnels and there's ALWAYS a charger ready to fuck your shit up in there. I find I completely fail my runs if I don't bring AT, but then ofc I get overrun by the little shitters. And then if I bring chaff clear I get fucked up by chargers.

It's hell because you can't rely on your other stratagems to fill the gaps.

My thoughts exactly. Caves are so fun when you hold a chokepoint against a breach in the next room but it all quickly turns to shit because there's now a bunch of normal-sized enemies that effectively fulfill the role of a Charger in how they can approach and disrupt your defense if you don't have an explosive weapon to tske them down.
Also, when fighting outside it honestly feels so fucking empty because half the bugs are underground at any given time. It's an interesting gimmick and I like the technical implementation of seeing the ground move but this might be genuinely the worst possible strain choice for cave diving.

Yeah it's not that hard to get SC by playing. Between 4 operations we got 460 superctedits on Oshaune BUT we got lucky and we dropped a 100SC bundle.
You can still be miserable and farm them in trivial if you need to, some people claim to get 1000SC in 1.30h

If you can try this build and see how it goes.
Quasar is your main AT, Ultimatum is your bootleg AT. You close bugholes with the speargun (or with the incendiary grenades).
You use the speargun even on diggers to make them come up for underground and get raped by coyote in 2-3 shots. Supply pack is for the speargun, your stims and the ultimatum. On bug breach throw a spear-shot and an incendiary grenade and repeat after 10 seconds, everything that isn't a charger, an impaler or a bile titan dies.
Oh the speargun can knockback charging chargers and vomiting bile titans, and it oneshots brood commanders so don't sleep on it.

I think it's because it's not an anti tank, it's not an anti-chaff... It's kinda an anti-medium? But often mediums are dealt with by high ammo count AP4 or 5 weapons or medium pen primaries. Speargun is literally made for Flamer builds, it allows me to switch off gas dog and pick up warp pack or supply pack. Been running it on D10 with my torcher, it's really fun.

The thing is, it won't stop Charger's charge nor fleshmob's. The stagger is important as it allows the gas to blind to pulse in and the confusion takes effect as normal gas application won't blind the enemy until they finish their attack order. The stagger window also allows you to get in and start crisping the bugger up.

Also, you can save retards from getting charged from the distance. Saved several people from getting ninja charged from behind because my harpoon stopped the charge. Honestly, I like it. It just needs slightly more ammo and it'll be perfect for support divers.

And actually, Speargun does more damage compared to Railgun Safe Mode.

I feel like the biggest issue with the game right now is the devs want to keep padding the fuck out of enemy armor classes as a way to raise difficulty. Bugs should be swarms of mostly lightly-armored organics that just have high HP pools for their big guys, but somehow their average armor plating is on par if not better than the killer robot faction since at least light pen still kinda works on bots, but even they have the striders now that encourage you to take thermites.

As someone who's never putting down my warp pack, I think the Railgun is actually better then the QC by virtue of the latter sucking so hard and EATs aren't enough by themselves either. One shot every 20 seconds at max, and with needing the 3 seconds of charge, just doesn't cut it for AT while the Railgun can pop BT heads and Charger butts in a reasonably effective manner, even if not as fast as a dedicated AT solution but all the decent ones require a backpack since the Epoch is DOA.

And you can't have sustained AT with it.

That said, since it doesn't have a backpack. It has the potential for some niche usecases. I just hate how Alexus has been handling the durability stats in this game in general. I think the speargun will probably do ok vs predator strains. Usually predator bugs are more comfortably taken down with assorted staggering shotguns than eruptor/xbow, so the speargun should provide something that can help supplement your hole closing potential and also kill the occasional charger. It's pretty shit against BTs, so you might still need EATs or 500kg to knock out the occasional BT.

I'm currently running both EAT and commando purely so that I have a large stash of self replenishing explosives for closing holes and also killing the occasional bile titan/charger on the side.
