I consider myself to be a dragon age fan and I've loved all the games since I was young and followed the story and learned every lore bit and all that, and even I hated the new one. I even liked 2 and 3 which were controversial and I still hated 4.

I cannot even guess why someone who plays a lot of crpg and has played the previous DA games would say they like it. I don't know why our resident amphibian said that. 4 damaged the lore in ways that go beyond mere accident, it feels like they were doing it on purpose. An unskilled writer who lied on their resume would have done better job because at least they would have just made some safe and boring slop, what actually happened was they killed off entire storylines established in the previous games, undid key characterizations that made previous characters compelling like Loghain and Flemeth, and wiped out much of the most interesting worldbuilding. It takes someone familiar with the setting to do as much damage as they did, a novice stabbing in the dark would have done less damage. It's genuinely baffling what happened, and I cannot even begin to guess why someone who knows better would say they like the game.
The dialogue was terrible, and the inappropriate one-liners and quips about things that are serious grated my nerves the entire time.

I bought it because I'm a long time fan and so of course I'm going to play the new one, but I began to be appaled early on. I forced myself to continue because I wanted to see the end and it did have some pretty graphics, but I was dissapointed from start to finish, and at times even beyond dissapointed when key lore and character assassinations kept happening.

It's genuinely one of my least favorite games of all time, and I'm a pretty easy to please and easygoing gamer usually. It's one of only several negative reviews I've left on steam, and I have like 100+ positives.

Jedi train younglings starting at around 6 or 7 years old, and Anakin was denied training because he was too old when Qui-Gon brought him before the council when he was 9 years old.

In swtor, the Knight and Consular classes are both prodigy force users who excelled in their tests and would have had zero reason at all to be held back in classes or older than their peers. The start of the game for each of them is taking their trials to become a formal padawan with a teacher assigned to them, which usually happens at around the age of 11 to 14. The literal youngest knight in the history of the order was 14, but that's Knight, not padawan. 11-14 is typical for padawans.

Thus, we can deduce that the Knight and Consular player characters are just about 14 or 16 or so during the main storyline of swtor. This is all using standard star wars canon for how the jedi order operates, and it doesn't actually matter that David Hayter (the voice actor for the knight (who is also Solid Snake)) sounds old, the character he is portraying is canonically about 14-16 years old.

Sure, that is the headcanon that we must use to explain how our characters sound old. But even with that being said, you're still a prodigy youngling who is just now preparing for their padawan trials, meaning you're still super young even if they did change the rules a little bit. So you're, what, like 17 or 18 instead of 14?

Eh, I don't think so, because by the time you meet her, even if you are the younger estimate for the age of the player character at the start (14), you're like 21 by the time you meet her. The game takes place over the span of several years, and her story starts later in the game. And 21 is a full adult capable of making their own decisions. Relationships with problematic age gaps are when one of the participants is like under 18.

Also, the genders can be reversed. Lana is the exact same age as Theron, and you can be playing a female knight/consular and romance him. So 35 year old Theron can romance a 21 year old jedi. You can also be homosexual with either of them.

Another funny fact about swtor and ages is that there is a common perception that Nadia, the padawan of the consular, is younger than you, but she's actually 22 years old when you meet, which puts her at potentially 8 whole years older than you, if you choose the younger age range of the player character.
She's also one year older than the 21 year old Kira, who is perceived as older and street smart and more mature.

The ages in this game are all over the place and it's really funny once you start thinking about who is romancing who.
But the game is amazing and overall does have nice romances, and the mmo aspects of the game can mostly be ignored if you're just looking for kotor 2.5, so I always recommend it.

Not very many star wars games have let you play a genuinely piece of shit sith and lean fully into being as bad or worse than the people you're fighting, and the mmo aspects of the game actually grew on me over time as I joined a guild and started doing raids, even though I started the game as a kotor fan just interested in the story.

Slept on this game for over a year before giving it a proper go. Really scratched the turn based isometric itch. Easily my GoTY until about halfway through act 2 when things started to become trivial. Bumped up the difficulty and still didnt notice a difference so I maxed it out to no avail. Most combats would be over before enemy units even got a turn thanks to the utterly deranged item balancing, ability synergy, and allowing the Grand Strategists to always act first while handing out multiple turns like candy. The concept of action/movement limits goes out the window almost immediately.

The game simply isn't punishing or difficult in the slightest. Even fighting a literal ancient star god was a joke when Argenta and Heinrix are pumping out 5 figure damage every turn.

Is there a community patch or mods to bring the gameplay more in line with the 40k setting? I want to do another run when more DLC drops.

The class stories all range from decent to good, I've only played Sith Inquis, Sith Warrior and Jedi Knight so I can only speak for those. The later expansions have some fun stories though they only really make sense as a force user class. Knight is alright but a tad boring and I ended up quitting in Act 2. Inquis and Warrior were fun even if they suffer from MMO gameplay. I'd recommend getting a 30 day subscription and blasting through the Sith Warrior story.

Yes, RT's greatest flaw is its broken difficulty curve. While trying to implement a system of interesting, complex, powerful but conditional synergies for abilities and between party members, they went too far and gave you too many. You get so many levels that you can stop thinking about your abilities completely toward the lategame, because you'll have stacked so many conditionals and synergies that plenty of them will be triggering no matter how you play.

It's a real shame because some of the early game encounters are really satisfying, especially when you use AP wizardry and a highly-specific synergy to completely turn the tide of a losing battle against an intimidating enemy. They should have ditched the nothingburger colony management system and put more time into balancing the XP, levels, and lategame instead.

Teleport is your best friend. You can easily sneak in fights one by one or move enemies closer together for easier AoE. Remember that once an enemy has their Armor/Magic Armor depleted, all CCs are 100% so you can easily stunlock enemies doing that. Also consider that enemies have varying amounts as well and you'll easily see a pattern where one would have like 1k+ Armour but only 200 MA, so you can target those with spells. Adrenaline, a rogue spell, is easy to get and allows you to double down on hitting people. There's a fair bit of stuff you can do really.

Is this good for an Azata Magic Deceiver? You get some absurdly powerful shortswords in Pitax, but any light weapon can do in a pinch. Slayers are not as tied to certain weapon type as fighters are, despite gettign less feats.

I literally won almost every single combat before any opponents acted from the end of Act 2 onwards. The game became just a matter of just choosing if Argenta or Heinrix were the ones to solo every encounter. More than anything I wanted a fight where I could test the limits of the parties output but even the final boss just folded to Heinrix.

Doesnt need to be everything on the list but I genuinely think there needs to be drastic changes. Even in combats where enemies take bonus turns during your turn they would either miss, get blocked, got dodged, or dealt a tiny amount of damage. The game drowns you in stims and medkits that you dont even need (invalidating trauma/injuries completely) with how many heals/temp wounds/revives you get.

The real issue is that this happens on the hardest difficulty which really should be there as an option for people to enjoy minmaxing with. There's 3 difficulty levels below that to accommodate casual playthroughs.
