>FAQ:
>Q: How often should I long rest?
>A: Many companion and romance interactions occur when long resting. Some early lower priority camp scenes can also be missed if higher priority ones are queued. To advance companion quests or romances, make sure to long rest often.
>Q: Can I recruit Minthara without going down the evil path?
>A: If you knock her out in Act 1, yes. You do miss out on the sex scene, but otherwise the romance remains the same.
>Q: Underdark or Mountain Pass?
>A: Either, or both. It's recommended to clear both on higher difficulties for the experience and loot. Both connect to the same Act 2 map.
>Q: Is The Dark Urge essentially "Tav+"?
>A: Yes. You get additional content, BUT there are points where, if you've chosen to resist the Urge and/or don't complete quests the "right" way, you'll have to pass additional checks to avoid losing companions.
>Q: Are there any consequences to consuming tadpoles?
>A: No, for the most part. However if you've consumed any tadpoles, there will later be a DC 21 Wisdom check to reject the Astral-Touched Tadpole, which affects your appearance if consumed.
>Q: Should I enable Karmic Dice?
>A: Karmic Dice will avoid streaks of low rolls, both for you and the enemy. It is recommended to disable it if you're specializing.

My fucking sides. You can pull the chair out from under Raphael during at the lanceboard table. Maybe it was just the element of surprise but it made me laugh so hard.

The game obviously doesn't know how to handle the situation: first he snaps into a standing pose then immediately back to his default idle sitting - now on the carpet beneath the table. Then after a second or two he snaps back into standing except this time for good. Mol just gets up and walks away right at the beginning like "fuck it, I'm out!".

Needless to say it breaks the scene (Raphael can't be talked to anymore and Mol only says her idle line about "conning some gold of that cleric") but at least you can get some cheap amusement out of it.

So not only do you think the novelty of the trick won't wear off after a few times, but you also have to exploit the game to get a few hundred scrolls first? Why not just install a cheat that allows you to be super cool awesome with the press of a button? That's what you're aiming for, with extra steps.

>Heh, the joke wasn't about Astarion being raped, you misunderstood
Plausible deniability is no longer plausible when there is a pattern of the slopswine being hypocritical (1), being unable to admit fault, even for something as inconsequential as a semantic mistake (2), constantly repeating the aforementioned "joke" and bragging about it being "/bgg/ culture" (3), and spewing stupid headcanon, such as the companions having abusive parental figures revealing something about their writers (4).

(1) https://arch.b4k.dev/vg/thread/485847206/#485847883
Rambling about how BG3 is a game that makes people feel "seen," only to later joke about sexual abuse that might be sensitive for people is hypocritical.
(2) https://arch.b4k.dev/vg/thread/484983246/#485059081
(3) https://arch.b4k.dev/vg/thread/536542557/#536623396
(4) https://arch.b4k.dev/vg/thread/535069485/#535135868

The common denominator is an utter lack of care for who these characters are or what they might mean to some. So no, I don't think that "joke" was "accidentally" offensive. I think that when a pattern repeats itself over years, it indicates true colors - especially on an anonymous website, where there shouldn't be any need to posture as either a saint or a piece of shit. When the pig repeats a pattern for two years, it's no longer a gimmick or a persona - it's simply what it is. In this case, subhuman.

A loyal jackboot of Vlaakith is Evil, and a devout Sharran cleric is Evil. But both of these characters feature a neutral alignment path, and many people would even argue the game pushes you towards their neutral path.

Shart was also changed from EA to be less evil and less snarky.

So these days yeah Asty and Minth are the only two carrying the evil torch. Just like there are only like 3 non-elves in the party. It's just the way the cookie crumbles.

The world's not black and white, it's shades of all kinds. Minthara might be labeled "evil," yet what is her crime? Being mind-controlled by the Cult of the Absolute? Being a drow? Gale is on the surface a decent man who means well - as long as it's convenient for him - and could even be described as moral. Yet, he is more than willing to toy with forces greater than him, or to risk the lives of thousands in the pursuit of his ambition. Do you still care what alignment reads on his character sheet?

What is the replay value in this game given the main story is so underwhelming and there seem to be almost no mutually-exclusive quests or paths? The different endings all hinge on decisions made in the last 5% of the game so it's not like there's a narrative benefit to a new run. Is it just about banging all the companions? They all throw themselves at you in the Act 1 camp party anyway so that seems like a straightforward savescum situation rather than a new game.

Is it just honour mode and a solo run?

In a recent interview, Neil Newbon, Astarion's VA, talks about how he considers Astarion a person who is similar to him in many ways, and how "there's a lot of stuff that came very close to home" in his portrayal of the character. "Survivors find a way to survive," Newbon says, both of the journey Astarion experiences and of navigating trauma in the real world.

I love how this game draws so much from the passionate voice actors, allowing them to deliver not only convincing performances but ones that resonate with people and stay with them. It can make people feel "seen." Anyway, do you guys think Godey boned Astarion? The joke is not about sexual abuse, by the way.

Baldur's Gate 3 is a roleplaying game. A game in which, presumably, roleplaying is a goal in and of itself, not something that stands in your way of reaching the end credits, or achieving your goal of 100%-ing the game before you shelf it forever. Only a complete moron like the swine would treat an RPG like a theme park and think it's excellent "roleplaying" to remove the party size limit in order to enhance the "social experience." It gets lonely with only three dolls, you see.

>Having Tav+only 3 other companions greatly limits the "social experience" of having a party. Having a larger party, hearing them banter back and forth with each other, is very immersive

You never react to the swine when it repeats the rape joke, but you're quick to act like I'm to blame for calling out its crass hypocrisy. Interesting, don't you think? Why is a subhuman that casually jokes about sexual abuse still pretending it cares a lot about the voice actors or the game?

Is reading comprehension becoming a scarce commodity these days or something? Roleplaying is NOT about having ten dolls in your party so you can hear a banter fire every 30 seconds. Roleplaying is NOT about simulating the "social experience" - whatever the fuck that means - of traveling with your besties and going on super cool adventures. Roleplaying is NOT about sampling every single option like a fat pig at a buffet because you have zero self-control. Roleplaying is about making a series of CHOICES and accepting their CONSEQUENCES. Roleplaying is, by definition, intertwined with respecting the narrative. How can you properly roleplay in a world whose rules you don't respect or even openly ridicule? In the context of BG3, respecting the narrative means that you don't teleport from one place to another with your ten-strong party, that you don't cheat by removing the level cap, or by auto-succeeding every skill check, thus rendering the basic foundations (skills) of your character meaningless. You don't actually want a roleplaying game - you want a theme park where you can find and recruit companions in the wild like they're pokemon. Choices and consequences is the very backbone of RPGs. By including every single companion in your circus troupe, you've eliminated the most basic choice of all. You've become an attention-whoring pig.

>>538039131
I don't have to enforce anything. Most people already accept the default party size of four. But of course, you can't be an attention whore if you do things like everyone else.

I'd say Myrkul is done well because of the Avatar that some mistake for Myrkul himself.
Ketheric is also the Chosen that has decent enough content.
There's also Balthazar that is displayed as someone who's not a complete idiot.

Past that, there's however very little and you could even easily miss the actual other Myrkulites because they are in the same place as Absolute cultists.
I think the general issue is that once you know you are dealing with the Dead Three, Myrkul is already out of the picture, even though they strictly speaking aren't that terribly represented.

No, that would be immersion.

Immersion-wise, does it make sense for your party of 7 to waltz into Moonrise like you own the place when you're supposedly on a recon mission?
Immersion-wise, does it make sense for your party of 10 to crash Gortash's coronation?
Immersion-wise, does it make sense for Orin to kidnap Yenna because your circus troupe of 11 is inseparable and that's the only target she has left?
Immersion-wise, does it make sense for your small army of 14 to say farewells to each other before Lae'zel has had enough and decides to hop on her dragon?

I'm merely copypasting what I've typed before because this is a recurring justification from cheaters like the swine. The narrative does NOT assume that your party includes every single companion (pokemon) you can find and recruit. That is merely video game convenience - Larian not wanting to impose a hard choice on the players on who to recruit and who is mutually exclusive with whom. Otherwise, you could further balloon your party with the hirelings from Withers as it would make no sense that they be "absent from the story for no reason." Your blatant disregard of the narrative is not my problem. Play the game however you want, but make no excuses about what kind of "player" you really are.

1. The player character wouldn't know the non-character's father is still alive. Are you metagaming?
2. The non-character would accept being replaced by a more competent spellcaster. The non-character can't even decide the value of his father's life in Act 3. The non-character is a glorified hireling.
3. I've never said that the narrative assumes a rigid party size of four. But it does assume a relatively small party. Temporary allies are completely acceptable - in fact, the screenshot above is a good example of that. Having Minthara or Jaheira or Aylin join you doesn't really break immersion - having a ten-strong party does. Why doesn't your party in BG2 gather all the available companions? It makes no sense to leave valuable allies behind! Clearly, the narrative assumes that you have a small army of twenty trusted companions by the time you face Irenicus.

Why? What reason is there to not bring both?
>3. I've never said that the narrative assumes a rigid party size of four.
But the game does for no more reason than balance and mechanics, something the party mod changes with the added benefit of improving the story and dare I say, the role playing.

Camping Shart with Spirit Guardians near Isobel alone saves you a lot of headache, especially if she's equipped with the usual (Luminous Armour, Blood of Lathander etc.) gear. Barricading (or Arcane Locking) doors is also helpful.
Dammon dying is new to me. Isn't he too far from the main action to get involved? Or maybe you just didn't have the numbers (Yonas' patrol died, Tieflings weren't saved, Florrick is gone already etc.) and he got aggro'd because of it.

You don't know whether the non-character's father is still alive at that point. Narratively, your party is small. That's just how the story plays out, and every single interaction starts to break down if you actually have ten allies accompanying you everywhere you go. It becomes especially egregious when Orin needs to kidnap someone and Yenna is the only target left. The number of companions you choose to recruit along the way is your own concern, but that is, once again, video game convenience. Temporary allies do not break the immersion established by that baseline, as I've already explained - they are literally part of the narrative. It's bizarre that you can recognize the arbitrary nature of a party size of four, but illogically conclude that having fourteen people in your gang is more "immersive."

Technically, the Emperor only turns on you if you turn on him first. If you simply follow his plan from start to finish, the brain is destroyed and you are freed of the tadpole and he simply floats away. Zero betrayal, and you get the ending you desired. You have to break the plan and betray him first if you want him to betray you.

He doesn't betray you unless you betray him first. This is a simple fact, and is a far cry from the rhetoric people were saying, which is acting like he betrays you as part of the plot or that it was inevitable. Omitting such an important detail like the player has to start the betrayal sequence in order for it to happen at all misrepresents the game. That's all. Whether or not he is trustworthy in the general sense is a different topic. And obviously he is not.

And for the record, he is lenient about several things. You can waltz into the creche showing off the artifact and handing it to everyone who asks, you can deny tadpole slurping every single time he asks, you can affirm your desire for total ghaik extermination at several points in the game including to him, and you can call him a squid freak in every conversation and he just puts up with it because you need each other. He could have turned you into a squid by removing his protection at any second, and then tumbled the artifact into the next adventurer's hands at any point. So he's more patient/flexible than people give him credit for.

Him joining the brain instead of just peacing out completely and going to Neverwinter or something was pretty stupid, but his logic is that survival even as a slave is preferable to being killed by the resurging githyanki if your plan succeeds.

Which is funny, because earlier he says taking this chance at freedom is worth it even if failure means death because life as a slave is no life at all. So it seems he talks big and gives good speeches but is actually quite afraid of dying when it comes down to it.
Especially in this case where he can just hide in another region...

Initially tight and petite, the entrance a narrow, pink slit barely parting for one finger, framed by soft, black pubic hair (a modest bush, untamed but not wild - curls matted slightly from travel sweat). Outer lips firm and pale, inner lips dainty and rosy, clit small and hooded like a hidden pearl. Inside feels warm, ridged, and vice-like - smooth walls hugging intruders with insistent pressure, G-spot a subtle swell. Smell starts mildly musky-tangy (sweat and metallic notes), but over a dozen cums, it evolves: grool builds from clear slickness to thick, creamy white accumulations - stringy strands pooling at the entrance, dripping down to her arse, scent turning sharper, more fermented like overripe fruit mixed with salty arousal, intensifying the hairy twat's pungency. After hours, hair is soaked, clumped with girlcum, making everything sloppier and smellier.

Minthara β€œmissing content” was attributed by Larian to bugs blocking her dialogue and reactivity; multiple patches said they fixed or added lines, yet players continued to report sparse content and broken triggers long after. Larian has long since given up any pretense of her content being bugged - it simply doesn't exist. Larian lied about Minthara's status as a companion, and then lied about the nature of the problem, then lied about a solution. And the people who deny this lie to themselves.

Marketing emphasized that evil playthroughs were fully viable role-playing, but multiple critiques concluded the pure-evil route was comparatively underdeveloped by Act 3, with Minthara’s path cited as evidence. In fact, Larian has lied about this from the very beginning, insisting that their unlikeable and forgettable cast of companions represented only the evil ones, and that many more companions would arrive later. Of course now we know the truth - there are no other companions, and many of the ones we did get are unfinished to this day. They lied to suppress criticism of their product's quality.

They fulfill a few roles
>being a replacement for someone who left/died (rare)

Fact or cap? I feel like the game was a success because of the cinematics & the amount of dialogue choices, how important was the bear sex to the game's marketing?

It's one of the best ways to get a really strong weapon in the late game
>have a hireling hit cleric level 10
>have them use the once-per-campaign 'Divine Intervention: Arm Thy Servant'
>receive Devotee's Mace

Memetic ingame moments can unironically make for better marketing than anything the publisher can buy.
I remember when Yakuza 0 came out, they put out a survey and one of the questions asked 'how did you find the game?' and one of the answers was 'the meme with the chicken in the bowling alley'.
So I bet if Larian had put out a survey asking that same question with one of the answers being 'I saw the bear sex meme' quite a few people would've chosen that.

AD&D (2E) was the last edition in which the rule you refer to was in effect. It was less about adamantine itself and more about restricting players' access to drow equipment. BG2 was made right on the cusp of 3E (2000), and featured a lengthy Underdark segment with a lot of powerful drow items you couldn't keep once you reached the surface, which probably contributed to that perception. But it has effectively not been true for 25 years.
