There are so many factors
First of all, the trailer was meh compared to BO6 trailer which was enjoyable to watch on its own even after playing the game for 800 hours.

Second, people know what to expect and they aren't happy until SBMM is removed (lol) and skins are back to normal. The latter was addressed by removing carry forward which brought some positivity but they didn't account for the remaining players so now they are the ones who are spreading negativity about the lack of carry forward. Rightfully so, when they spent so much money on skins and blueprints that'll only be playable through Warzone.

Third, there's the CoD fatigue group. You can release the best CoD game and they'll still be impressed by Battlefield just for being different. I mean, for god's sake the comments in Ace Battlefield videos reek of new players who just started playing Battlefield for the first time in their lives, who are somehow impressed with the slower pace and the amount of players putting less stress on them to perform well. Mind you BF6 is the fastest Battlefield game without relying on maps like Operation Metro so a BF "veteran" would call out the small maps and the time to death.

Then there's a small minority of people who hate futuristic CoDs, me included. I'll play BO7 but I don't think I'll ever love it from an aesthetic standpoint, just like all futuristic CoDs before it.

Ubisoft's Hyperscape didn't have SBMM and that game died and EOS'd. Maybe you guys can go back to when your computer acted like a server and hosted games. Otherwise, SBMM needs to go through some changes, but I don't know how that'll work.

Maybe the really high skilled players can be put in their own lobbies. Meanwhile the newer players, low skilled players, average players can fight against each other until they get good enough to be put into higher skilled lobbies.

If you don't have skill based match making then the higher skilled players can utilize their controller aimbot and their movement to just trounce lower skilled players new to the game.

That's more because of Bungie's then terminal inability to make a metagame around anything but a single headshot ranged weapon like the BR. It exceed the AR in its own limited range in DPS while making most of the sandbox obsolete with its sheer power. The HCE pistol and Reach DMR also made vehicles obsolete, the latter turning BTB into hiding from DMRs because of how vehicle health is calculated.

Personally, I prefer a single weapon underpowered than overpowered. BO2 pistols for example you can argue which is better and many used either of them except the underpowered Executioner. But in Halo, one overpowered weapon becomes the end all be all of the whole metagame especially when it's not a power weapon thus are more common. Underpowered means nobody uses it and overpowered means everyone uses it. The former doesn't kill variety. So it's not just number of weapons but also how they're balanced, which does get troublesome the more weapons. But from Bungie, I don't trust them to balance a game with far less weapons than the average CoD game.
