I think my favorite thing about the CMs is getting to pick three Umas that fit the track out of my favorites.
The multiple uma setup and the little blurbs before and after each race let me play out the 1 trainer to multiple umas fantasy like the anime in a way that Team Trials just doesn't really work well for, because with 15 Umas it's hard to seriously self insert as a trainer for every single one of them or keep track of what the dynamics between them would be.
With just 3, it's a lot more manageable, and I even get to make a little celebratory concert with them as the three leads after the cup is done, and I can make them three of my title screen umas (with the remaining slot being for whichever one I'm in the middle of a run with). It adds a lot of fun to playing the game!

I'm just trying to get good groundwork sparks (hence the Air Groove) with the other good skill sparks from Yaeno Muteki's power card (Playtime's over, Tail Held High, Medium Corners, Homestretch Haste, and Up-Tempo). Super Creek is there so that I can reliably hit 600 stamina for a chance for the 3* stamina spark (and she also gives Firm Conditions, Ramp Up, and Homestretch Haste). Kitasan is for stats as always but can also give Focus, Front Runner Straightaways, and Long Corners. King Halo is only there for stats (and Firm Conditions and Homestretch Haste). Sweep Tosho is for Slipstream.

I had a miserable time when making my first groundwork parents, as running just Air Groove and hoping for groundwork resulted in getting groundwork in maybe 50% of runs (with always clicking on Air Groove hints no matter what else was available). Now with Air Groove and a total of 10* groundwork parents with double circle, I'll get groundwork from either inspiration or Air Groove in most of my runs (although it's still probably not higher than 80%).

If the maximum hint level is reached, I buy the skill to help with winning G1s. Sometimes I'll buy the skill even if it's just hint level 3 as with Mile affinity being just B she needs all the help she can get to win the Mile G1s. I also always buy Swinging Maestro even if it has no hint levels as I find that I really need that recovery to guarantee I win the Long races (and by winning 20+ races, I always have enough skill points to buy the critical skills at the end anyway).

Tazuma improves mood early on, so you can get +% training. She also reduces energy costs when landing on shared training and can proc bonus speed. Once you unlock her recreation, you get several interesting effects. It's essentially a "safe" rest and mood up. She comes with a ton of mini energy regen events and usual skill hint events. Assuming you are using an MLB Tazuna on loan:

4. 56 rest, 6 wit, cures status, +mood
5. 56 rest, 40 skill points, +2mood, 50% chance on her gold skill
Each one comes with +friendship, so you nearly always max her out. At the end of the scenario, she gives an additional +6 to all stats and up to 20 more skill points.

I did exactly the same thing at first and swapped the Air Groove out for another good hint card, but after a few runs of terrible inspiration (even with double circle affinity) I was forced to put her back in. In fact, the Rudolf I posted up above got her groundwork from an Air Groove hint in November Senior year as the inspirations failed.

From here you can minmax this total affinity by running the same races across parents and grandparents. Just g1 farm when breeding.
