Get Weapon Finesse to use dexterity instead of strength for accuracy
Get Aldori Swordlord Prestige Class as soon as possible
Level 1 Aldori Swordlord gets Deft Strike which allows you to use dexterity for damage

So lots of dexterity and 13 intelligence is probably what I want? I saw the Combat Expertise feat that gives AC but requires intelligence and the Aldori Defender will likely be my tank

How do you build Heinrix to be so OP? I've read numerous times that he's probably the strongest companion but I've never been able to make him do anything meaningful in combat. I'm in the middle of act 2 and my strongest companions are Kibellah and Argenta. As soon as Kibellah acts she can often kill half or more of all enemies by jumping around spreading rape. My Cassia is also quite strong with her aoe ability. My RT doesn't do much damage on his own but as an officer and grand strategist he is the one who facilitates the OPness of my other companions.

Take 3 levels of whatever rogue class you want so you can get finesse training and some other goodies.
Take 9 levels of Aldori Defender for Steel Net and two levels of weapon training.
Get all the crane style feats.
Turn on defensive fighting for like +1 to hit and +5 to AC.

You can spend the remaining 8 levels however you want. For example:
Monk 1: saves some feats for crane style and get +wis/cha to AC
Paladin 2: smite evil and save bonuses
Vivisectionist 1: mutagen, shield spell, and sneak attack dice
Hellknight 1: smite chaos
Demonhunter 1: +2 to hit/damage against all demons

Give him these two items.
Generally build around the idea of maxing out veil degredation with aoe attacks then spamming psyker powers to trigger psychic phenomena which permanently increase his psy rating.
Each psy rating dramatically increases the damage potential of this force sword. There's technically an upgraded version of this sword in act 3 so you could dual wield them or opt to use a shield.

I used these this combo to deal 10k damage to Epitaph in a single hit so it's pretty good.

Alistair and Carth aren't that bad. I like them. A regular dude companion is nice to have when the rest of the cast is wacky in one way or another.
Atton almost fits the bill as well, but he ends up being wacky too, and he has some antagonistic moments.
And let us not forget the pinnacle of the mostly-normal reliable bro companion archetype, Garrus.
Bg3's closest character is probably Wyll.

Another path to consider:
For Dodgetank that hits decently with dex modifier, Duelist would work well since it gives Canny Defense, better initiative and parry can be fun
4 levels of rogue give you not only dex to damage but also uncanny dodge which is quite useful (plus combat tricks).

Swordlord extra abilities with shaken and such are harder to utilize but at least its Saving slash is quite useful.

If you're thinking in terms of difficulty then don't worry about. This is not Pathfinder, the characrer building is much more straight forward and the combat is much easier even on the higher difficulties. Also your companions are usually better at their respective roles than any mercenary you could cook up.

This is it though, the final playthrough. The cards are dealt. My main squad came to finish the job, and now we have everything west of the river, Port Cacao and some nearby sectors, and a little around Landsbach as well.

Now you learned a valuable lesson. Bonuses of the same name don't stack unless they're one of a handful of types. I think dodge AC and natural armor AC stack but nothing else. For all other bonuses you take the highest one for the specific name and that's your bonus.

That's why it's so important to stack your team with unique bonuses.

There's like a criminal background that gives you an initiative bonus.
I think there's a martial artist background that gives you a free feat that you need for the crane style line.
There's a few that give saving throw bonuses.
Basically all of them can give you additional class skills for the +3 bonus.

The overall best is probably the initiative bonus which most people don't realize the ridiculous importance of.

Areelu Vorlesh disguised as Jennifer English voice acting Orin disguised as Shadowheart

A high fantasy crpg with a cast of wacky squad mates and all the branching paths in the story should be right up my alley, but owlcat's boring encounter design and mistaking difficulty as stat inflation make me not enjoy the game. I still beat it twice to experience two different mythic paths but I found myself dreading playing more of this gameplay style so I'm not going to play a third time despite being curious about some of the other mythic paths.

Rogue Trader massively improved on both fronts. Encounters consider things like cover and elevation, and tactical turn based is so much more fun than buffing up so you can right click attack the balor who has inflated 45 AC.

I'm so proud of them improving with every game. They're doing exactly what a developer should do, learning with each installment. This isn't to say their previous games are bad, they've never made a bad game, but getting better each time makes me really hopeful and excited for the future.

Go back to the ship, no harm in doing this in the middle of a mission. And in act 2 one of your colonies has a development option that regularly gives you special medkits that remove all traumas.
Also, you can access your colonies (when you get some) from a tab accessible by a button on the right side of the screen. You don't usually need to go there in person.

Some of the high level stuff is ok. I find that the pirates are the least good of the merchants.
The way it works with merchants, most of the good stuff is hidden behind reputation requirements. You can rep by giving them trash they like. All that shit you find in barrels. You can also send trash weapons in inventory to cargo, which is your "merchant fodder" hold.
You also need a certain amount of Profit Factor for each merchant item, but you don't expend PF. You just take the item. It's like a measure of your rep as a rich guy

The Inquisition is relatively tiny and really doesnt give a shit about new planets unless there's something on it that serves their interests. If anything they're more interested in purging planets and systems completely to clear some of their endless backlog of suspicious activities. Expansion of the Imperial domain is a combined effort mostly spearheaded by the Adeptus Mechanicus, particularly through the Navigator Guild and the Missionarus Galaxia. Then it becomes a task for the The Adeptus Administratum and by extension the Astra Millitarum, Adeptus Arbites, Ecclesiarchy and local Imperial cults to subjugate and catalogue shit of significance. The Rogue Traders are pretty rare so they're really just a funny relic of the past "trusted" to act in the Imperium's interests. In the same way that the Inquisition and its agents bend the law the Rogue Traders are considered a valuable connection to the black/xenos market and necessary for activities on the absolute fringe of Imperial law. Im sure most of Inquisitors would be quite pleased to see the Rogue Traders obliterated but its a little awkward when they have the direct undeniable blessing of the God Emperor.

What does reputation actually do in RT?

I love Argenta and I have since the game came out (before even, technically. Ever since I saw her portrait and learned her general story before launch). When she laughs when she crits is my favorite moment in the game, and she literally never leaves my party because I love her (except sometimes I debate leaving her behind for the Commorragh mission. On the one hand, I like the idea of leaving her behind safe on the ship so nothing bad happens to her, but on the other hand she doesn't really get tortured and she enjoys blasting xenos the whole time so idk which is better).

Of course I would have liked to have a romance, she's practically my ideal woman, but it's also ok that not every cool character can be romanced and she has a fine friendship arc too. Platonically praying together or holding hands romantically while praying together are both good for me.

I'm super excited for Dark Heresy and I hope they either have another SoB companion, or if not then perhaps have some unique quests for the SoB player origin characters where you get to mee tup with some and do some quests with some. We've seen a portrait for at least one, likely a questgiver npc or player character portrait, which is already cool.

I played a SoB in dark heresy ttrpg for years, and they're my main army for the wargame too, so I'm just super stoked any time they show up. I'm super excited for this game either way since I'm going to love a turn based 40k rpg in general.

The bg1 party potentially killing each other was interesting, and realistic.
People loved the banter between Alistair and Morrigan, and people loved the showdown between Jack and Miranda. Party conflict can be fun, and it also adds realism. These people brought together by circumstance wouldn't always get along.

Owlcat lightly touches on some of this by having certain characters dislike each other, but there's barely any actual mechanical representation of these feelings, like there was in bg1, and to a lesser extent mass effect.

bg3 did a nice job of it. Karlach and Wyll straight up try to kill you and die in the process if you raid the grove to recruit Minthara. And certain decisions later on can make certain characters try to kill certain other characters but I don't want to spoil stuff. so bg3 had this feature.

I think the most egregious example of it feeling wrong is rogue trader. As much as I absolutely adore that game in general, it really didn't make sense for certain characters to abide Marz or Uralon. Even with your special privileges as Rogue Trader, this was stretching the suspension of disbelief.

Been playing Tranny's Gape 3 slowly and I have to say it's as shit as I remember it on launch. The economy is so fucked: selling magical items gives you barely any gold so the only good way to earn money is to steal it, but once you figure out how to steal things effectively there's no point in picking up anything you're not going to use since you don't care about selling stuff anyway. Meanwhile nothing is locked in tranny's gape 3 since you get infinite and essentially free (just steal infinite money from vendors lol) respecs that allow you to redefine your character's class and skills, not to mention being able to do the same with your party members and customizable mercs, thus allowing the player to solve in-game quests and encounters in any way they wish without being actually committed/locked into their choices.

When you think about the issue deeper, you realize that Tranny's Gape 3 is a true tranny simulator - a game where you respec your character to whatever class/skillset you need at the moment so that you can complete whatever quest you're doing at the moment in whatever way you wish at the moment. Essentially, it is a game where character creation choices are stripped of consequences which, in turn, eliminates the very notion of meaningful choice - something that lies at the very core of roleplaying games.

Tranny's Gape 3 is a true paradox - a weg that has nothing to do with RPGs since it completely lacks roleplaying depth while at the same time being the perfect game where you roleplay a tranny.

Inevitable Excess is ok if you like high level gameplay, but otherwise it's pretty bad, although you can get some pretty broken items for the main campaign if you complete it a certain way. Through the Ashes and Lord of Nothing are alright, but they're a side story that's pretty much unconnected to the main game until the very last act where you get a pretty fun boss fight, but I don't think it's worth it for that alone. Treasure of the Midnight Isles is pretty bloated and will complete ruin the main campaign's experience and gold progression, but you get a bunch of very OP items. Last Sarkorians is the only one I'd say is actually worth, it adds a new companion, a new class, new areas and a fairly long storyline. Dance of Masks is cool, but fairly short, I'd say only get it if you like the main campaign and the companions a lot.
