Epoch only uses the Ascension servers, but they're still managed by Epoch, so the whole crashing server shit is a result of Epoch not knowing how to maintain it with buggy ass code that keeps crashing their own server. Ascension is pretty flawless, has very fast fixes for everything and you don't get this random shit like on Epoch where every restart something is broken, especially you never get crashes. So BBC+ is very professionally managed and patched.

The only custom quest I've found questionable is the one about the deadbeat dad who joined the Defias in Westfall. It starts off innocently enough with the wife and daughter wanting their husband/father back, but then it just goes from 1 to 100 where in one single quest the wife goes from "I hope he comes back" to "FUCKING MAN! KILL THE FUCKER AND BRING ME HIS THUMB!" And when you go to fight the guy, he calls his wife a witch.

There's a set of quests outside of Scholomance where you enroll and do "lessons". It's a cool idea but it kind of ruins the desolate nature of the place thematically and turns it into a wacky school adventure and it doesnt make sense since you'll be going in there and killing your classmates later on.

WoW rp feels a lot more super hero sandboxy and xiv rp tends to feel more like you're just roleplaying people in the world. The longer I play on this broken dogshit server the more I believe in the rumours that the bugs cannot be fixed despite appearing in changelog multiple times because there's some larger issue at hand that simply doesn't register certain client packets or hangs up on others (which is why quest chains get stuck due to NPC animations and a bug you didn't have yesterday appears today).

Things used to be fixed quite quickly right after 2nd launch because Ascension devs were helping but now they officially gave Epoch devs the tools to do it themselves and we're back to no fixes over weekends cause Epoch devs got "family priorities" and fixing only inconsequential quests.

Looking at the attitude of the developers towards the project (careless, nothing is fixed, players are not notified of anything, but the cash store was added on time) I don't think that the server is worth serious investment in time, and its maximum is to level up to 60 with an explorer contract to see the custom content.

To my dismay, my Consecrate spell (huge part of my damage rotation) ranked up to 3 and chunks my mana bar for ~1/6 of its length every cast.
Sure, I could just keep using the Rank 2 version but I feel like that's just avoiding the problem, right? Do I just keep stacking INT on gear? I'm hoping to solve the mana issues on my character that have been slowly mounting to this point.

Yeah, Epoch’s on a different level compared to Turtle. When I was leveling on Turtle, I always knew when I was doing a custom quest because it stood out. In Epoch, that’s not the case. My favorite examples are the quests in Darkshore where you’re made to kill the various Moonkins and murlocs around the zone. Rolling gurubashi was a mistake, atleast if youre alliance - as usual every contested zone is utterly horde dominated, alliance players dont help each other and see fellow alliance as bait that they can leave behind while they get away.
This usually does not even work because the mouthbreathers on horde will chase you across multiple zones once they have seen you because they are not NPCs, they know that alliance will allow them too.
Its the same in BGs, alliance roll over the second they are behind, if you play Horde and they lose a cap they go completely apeshit and double down, you will never see this on alliance.
And no, playing Horde does not solve the issue, it is boring as shit to club seals that aren't fighting back, I have been in this situation on both sides multiple times.
