i've been coping with mega man lately and as i play the series i start developing my own grudges with a lot of the design choices and i'm constantly comparing it to sonic in my mind and wondering what a sonic x mega man crossover would play like and honestly with all the crossovers capcom has done it surprises me that they never thought to cross them both over in a game, a lot of the time where i'm clearing a mega man stage i just find myself thinking "oh yeah sonic could have a shield when he goes fast to deflect projectiles" and other brainstormy indie type shit and i don't know i'm rambling

i feel like the only thing keeping me a sonic fan is the fact that most other franchises outside of mario and sonic are dead and idgaf about mario cause it's even more barebones and soulless than sonic and mega man in my eyes

Some of them were fun even if unintentional. I hope they find a way to use those intentionally. The Homing Dash is something that makes Frontiers interesting and it would be fun to see some stages designed around it

My wishlist
-Fully original and creative stages and open zones, none returning from previous games
-No recycled level design at all
-Varied locations, not too many cities, not too many grasslands
-No 2D gameplay
-No quickstep sections
-Level design like The Final Horizon, but implemented within the environment in a way that looks believable
-Multiple playable characters
-Arcade modes and time attack modes for the regular stages, as well as the open zone platforming challenges, puzzles, and the combat
-A serious story, but with a lighthearted tone, something more like Adventure or Unleashed
And character theme songs, I wasn't going to mention it but that's something I wanted the series to bring back since forever and you just reminded me

Cool, let's hope they get rid of the boost completely and focus on more physics based platforming instead of the shitty Lost World physics. Also make it harder to get all the skills from the skill tree, and make the skill tree bigger. In Frontiers you just end up unlocking everything, so they're more like the Adventure or Unleashed upgrades with a different interface than something unique to Frontiers

Silver devalues Blaze merely through the concept of his existence. It doesn't matter how shit of a character he is, or how bad the writing gets, he will always be carried by the fact that he on a very basic level is like Sonic and Shadow. A male hedgehog that can go super. And has a name that also coincidentally starts with the letter S. It's marketable. That's why they're marketed as a trio in the DC sets. It's why he gets to be front and center in the DC collab, but Blaze is relegated to cameo status. It's why Silver gets a spot in all the major marketing for crossworlds despite not being directly focused on while Blaze is basically no where to be seen. The only thing Blaze has gotten in recent years over him is TMOSTH and that's only because it's made by the social media team that actually gives a damn about her and isn't bound by the whims of having to market to specific demographics.
It's just a fact that Triple S trio will be more appealing to little boys. They don't need to know anything about Silver, they'll just see him alongside Sonic and Shadow and assume he's similar. Blaze on the other hand stands out like a sore thumb next to Sonic and Shadow because not only is she female, but also a cat and her "super form" isn't technically a super form and doesn't fit with the golden color scheme.
Both Silver and Blaze are the same in the sense they can both be protagonist game leading characters because they both have their own world settings, villains and duties to attend to, but realistically only one of them has a real shot at being explored since Sonic and Shadow are already the top dogs of the franchise.
Silver is just going to be picked in every instance because of his existence being the way it is.
And it makes me admittedly sad as someone who likes Blaze, she'll never get a chance by default. This isn't about shipping, Im just bitter I'll never get a Blaze game where she goes on an adventure with Marine in her world without Sonic

Like, first of all, this is Sonic & Tails. Tails is the Little Brother Figure towards Sonic as the Sidekick, effectively "Robin", inspired by "Gohan". Which translates to: this is a Kid being 'raised' and trained and older mentor figure, which is Sonic.

Their sibling dynamic is an older sibling having to be the parent watching over the younger sibling.

Simply saying "they don't act like siblings" sounds more like projecting what you think typical siblings that grew up together under their parents would be like. But neither Sonic nor Tails has any parents in their lives, they are independent, with Sonic basically filling that role for Tails anyway.

Overall, if Sonic & Knuckles' dynamic of hating each other and fighting all the time is what you're looking for, you shouldn't expect any of that from Sonic & Tails ever.

Tails learned that Sonic is an asshole who wants all the attention and will never allow him to shine, and so Tails started to act arrogant towards Sonic. With his PTSD now worse than ever, Tails finally accepted that Sonic is the problem, and decided to leave him to have offscreen adventures alone, with the goal of becoming a completely different and unrecognizable person by the time he appears in another game

Sonic fanbase in a nutshell

Tails is a victim of bullying that caused him to develop very bad self-esteem issues, to the point that he latched onto Sonic, follows him around, and wants to be like him. Sonic himself is the coolest guy ever, whose generally cool with everyone, only really acting snarky or whatever to rivals or enemies, and is very encouraging and uplifting towards anyone who needs it.

How do you expect Sonic & Tails' dynamic to be, when this is the context? Sonic can't come at Tails with the kind of energy he brings to Knuckles, because Tails isn't gonna fight back, he's gonna internalize it and feel bad about himself. And Tails himself is inherently kind and soft and gentle by nature, so he's not gonna come at anyone with that kind of energy at all unless it's someone he legitimately has some sort of deep anger for or someone that's a legitimate villain or whatever, even if he has a healthier self-esteem and more confidence.

Expecting Sonic & Tails to just bicker and fight for no reason is expecting Sonic & Tails to be severely out of character.

I think one of the main issues is that if you want to have a plot driven game for Blaze and Marine in Sol, there needs to be an antognist there or something that will make/force another character from the main world to travel there too. Basically another Rush Adventure. It's very rare to see a franchise with a large cast have their own character specific spinoff titles unless the character is insanely popular. This is a problem most characters in the cast face outside of being included in Heroes-sized plots or tag along adventures. In this case, it's really more of a "Shadow is Sega's son" thing rather than "my character doesn't get enough attention." Other characters can stand on their own but they need to have a greater role in Sonic's adventures first.
