Interesting problem to have. You *need* both life and Mana leech on your (singular) ring because you have no weapon and one ring is a uniqe. You *need* melee skills on your amulet because it's your primary damage and your gloves slot is a Unique. You need super good rolls on chest and boots because otherwise you can't get enough resists.
Upshot being defensive stats are good DPS stats for Hollow Palm so you aren't sacrificing a lot of damage to be tanky.

I can easily spent 5 points for 80% from ES, got 2.5k life and 7k ES, just entered T15. Sometimes I feel I need it against archers, but not sure how much.
Also, is my impression correct that I should be more defensive in tree in endgame? Feels like damage is easyier to scale with gear than defense.

I am playing melee Monk and I have about 120% of ES to Stun threshhold conversion, also I run CI, currently at 4k ES.
You need it a lot less as a ranged character but not having it as a melee character fucks you in the ass constantly. I have Self Mortification and the entire little wheel with Shimmering Mirage and Absement near CI, and it feels great aside from some Abyss bullshit which is obscenely overtuned.

Ranged characters can get away with going for full DPS builds but if you're not ranged then yeah you're going to need some sort of solve to sustain from incoming hits beyond just flasking that can either be scaling recharge speed or do what I'm doing and turning Leech into ES Leech with Essentia Sanguis.

Nah armour's fine this patch, you just need to stack a lot of it and you need to have leech (and instaleech) as well. I have about ~30k armour for phys about about ~65k for ele and I stopped noticing hit damage that isn't literal monke slam. All I have to dodge are dots/recovery disabling desecrated ground.
Armour's good this patch you just need to gear up and spec into some increases. It's ass if you have too little and very good if you have enough or too much.
