The obsession with hard pities comes from Hoyo gachas with sub-1% rates where luck doesn't exist. The rates are so microscopically low that you're not really rolling on a gacha and relying on luck anymore, you are simply buying the character with the amount of rolls required for the guarantee. You will never get it early, you will never get it for cheap, and you also won't even get the consolation of filling up your roster with spooks, because every single character is limited. Every patch you have to log in religiously, do your dailies, and play every dogshit minigame event to gather enough currency to meet the fixed 180 roll price tag on each banner.

You have tons of pulls as a new player. ch0-ch15 alone give you 650 op, that's 195 pulls. Add 100 pulls from old annihilations and that's 295 pulls from a get go, almost enough for you to spark any limited. With needing 60 pulls on average to get a rate up 6* it almost guarantees you any 6 rate ups you want and who knows how many spooks. And that's not counting side stories and weekly/dailiy income you'd get while clearing main story + annihilations (with wuh2 it takes ~1 month but I did it in 1 week).

I can tell they didn’t really skip banners. Because the way that lineup is shown is something that happened to me once. It’s much easier to win the 50/50 on a specific character’s banner than hoping all those characters you didn’t roll for will spook you on one limited banner. Going all in on one banner is how you get potentials. You could also roll once on a banner and get that 6* immediately that’s happened to me several times.

With just the monthly pass, you get around 1000 rolls a year (with free rolls on limited banners included).
That's enough rolls to get nearly all new ops as they are released. All you have to do is ignore bait banners like kernel, standard, orienteering, and reruns.

Arknights gacha is fine if you are a f2p. But any newbie missed the limited banners that never rerun and so has to spark for a huge cost as opposed to rolling the limited cheaply on average. That's why the pulls are only enough for 1 old limited but if you aren't sparking the rolls will usually go quite far.

At least they cycle through into the yellow cert shop a lot, and they do build your own rate up ones for them to pick. Half are in recruit top op too
but overall getting spooks its probably better for new players too, having 2 pools of ops to spook from is better than 1 massive pool, helps narrow down stuff they're missing if they're not autistic about rolling blue banner rate ups (it should probably be cheaper desu but thats besides the point)

A lot of the maps can be tough if you don't bring certain types of ops in advance which is especially noticeable when doing random stages. Arknights is usually a single player game and the co-op maps definitely feel...well, made for co-op. There's no reason to be nervous about jobbing, it happens.
