1999's stories are at it's when they're treated like an anthology that's loosely tied together but still has some overall coherence. the best 2.X patches (Uluru2, Cosmic Overture, Showdown, Brazil) worked because they weren't trying to ham-fisted to have some kind continuity between events. Seems that they acknowledged the issue though which is nice. and of course it seems that every other social media platform treats it like a godsend while 8 is perceived to be narrative low because it lacks browns
