Anyway look at how unpolished this is, Knuckles and Shadow got way better treatment. And Cobalt Legacy does not even have Tails.

Tails is also in Smash Ultimate.

And Smash Bros. fans now demand Eggman instead of Tails despite Tails having the legacy, the greater connection to gameplay, and the popularity to back him up.

Let's be real, nobody is actually "hyped" for Tails in Smash. The demand isn't for some unique moveset; it's pure, uncut legacy. He's "Kid Sonic," the mandatory sidekick people feel obligated to ask for to complete the set. It's about checking a nostalgia box for the good old days. You don't WANT him, you just feel he SHOULD be there. That is why he is ranked lower on the polls and why only a handful of mods bother to make the effort to add him in.

Cream is a fictional character. One who is very nice and kind, yes. But Cream would also not appreciate the division and hatred that Amy's inclusion brings upon the discourse nor the attitude of Amy's fans.

Cream is simply a superior character with a design far more appealing to women, who has more interesting and compelling dynamics with the rest of the cast than Amy's single-minded fixation on Sonic allows for. Cream is a windpilled character and one who deserves front-billing. Amy? A poor confused mess of a character with conflicting characterizations and concepts. Cream is what Classic Amy should have been.

Maybe to throw Amy fans a bone she could only be semi-vaulted and kept around as Tails' girlfriend (as a reference to NickyAmy from the Shogakukan manga), but I highly doubt most Amy fans would accept this outcome. Her character simply conflicts with the brand too much. It's an unfortunate reality that a lot of her fans engaged in the most toxic behavior this franchise has ever seen and terrible shipping wars. They want Sonic to be out of character to make this OOC ship (SonAmy) work.
