I want fantasy megabuildings. I hate how each Elder Scrolls has made their cities and palaces smaller with each successive game. Something like Mournhold Temple, Vivec's Palace, or White-Gold Tower feel impressively fantasy. The closest analog in Skyrim is the Blue Palace, and that feels tiny.

They did that because TES cities were too big and boring. It was one of the biggest complaints of Morrowind and Oblivion. They look cool, but they suck to play in. Cities just suck. The less time you have to play in them, the better. That's why Skyrim's cities and castles are small: because they are convenient. You're never more than 2 minutes away from the exit.

I’m trying to make this civil war pay off. I may have it, but not worked out all the kinks. We approach Tullius and Ulfric and make the other one believe they’ve acquired a super soldier skooma formula. An obvious tactical advantage! Ulfric will pay out the nose to keep Tullius from having access to that, and vice versa. We play both ends against the middle and make bank. Of course, a sting like that will be a complete one off because it won’t hold up to prolonged inspection. But we say the other one moved their secret supply to some shithole like Elsweyr, and off they go in that direction. Meanwhile, we pull up stakes with our ill-gotten millions and find a nice place to retire and it’s a fine day with you around.

Getting back into Skyrim, this time with SE. Have a dozen mods, all working just fine it seems. However I have a question regarding character creation and racemenu. My character looks vanilla during this, however, the mods are applied when I finish creating the character. Such as eye changes, skin changes etc. So during racemenu/character editing, everything is vanilla, but when I finish it/accept changes, everything immediately goes to modded. Is this normal or is this a sign that I've fucked something up? It does make character creation rather annoying. When I've tried looking this up, I get people getting different errors like missing textures, or invisible character.

If their design philosophy remains the same(it most likely will), they're not changing.
Number one philosophy of both Skyrim and Fallout 4, I don't know if it were in Starfield, since I didn't play it. Has been that it should be frictionless, everything has to be available to you at all times. I.E, not burdensome requirements, no gameplay choices that locks you out of anything. It's the you know 'go anywhere, do anything'.
If that is good or bad, the opinion among gamers is split, but sales seem to majorly favour it.
