Their design did grow on me after a while but yeaaah.
At least the armor, enemies and maps had a pretty artistic direction and execution, going back to 3H after beating Engage made me realize how kinda ugly 3H maps were, and its not even a "oh engage just has better graphics" thing because the 3ds games also had good looking areas and maps.
I'm still bummed about some supports being censored in EN, hopefully nothing like that happens again.

The filler allegations are due to how abyssal the pacing was.
You see the heir relay race and then you get a pretty epic cutscene...only followed for 90 minutes of Hysilens backstory and Lygus' going "THE CAVEEE" and "we will meet to fight".
By the time you DO get to punch Lygus most of the tension is gone and you wasted 90 minutes.
Not to mention that by the next cycle the Hysilens and Cerydra you met in this patch will be gone since you rolled the cycle (again), sure they'll retain their core backstory and personality but they won't know you, and most assuredly the patch is going to place heavy focus on how Evernight also helped save Amphoreus (before Cyrene powercreeps that and becomes the only and most important character in Amphoreus).
The writing is ok to mediocre but the pacing is terrible and there's way too much filler, the patch with the least amount of filler is like Phainon's and EVEN THEN you have to play house with him in Aedes Elysae for a bit, granted, that part serves to ground normalcy and displays the original cycle but still.

It takes time on the unimportant things, it has no story, it's fan service is not as elegant as I prefer.
