Anon, the average wizza lives far away from everyone including other wizzas. The Weasley family is considered “neighbors” to the Diggorys, but their house is still hours away from the Burrow on foot. Malfoy Manor is deep in a forest, same with the Gaunt shack.
Only Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade are full wizard communities, with Hogsmeade being the only all-wizard village in all of Britain. It's honestly amazing that wizzas managed to come together and form a government by the 16th century.
If left alone, most would probably just lock themselves inside their towers. So the idea of a church or regular community gathering, outside of taverns and the occasional international tournament, probably sounds weird to them.

I don't even get how you're supposed to do anything but die automatically to Headless Hunt as Snape. Three TTs plus a companion, widely spread out to avoid AoE? HH oneshots them all anyway and hits you too. I like the echo but with HH and TS both just invalidating Time Turners with zero effort, on top of half a dozen things that can instakill Kevin, it feels so hard to make it work.

Alright lads, I'm back after a few years (has it been that long? I dunno really, I played the game when it just released and now I am really for another run). I would greatly appreciate any mod recommendations. What are essential mods to make this game better? I did play the game with a bunch of difficulty mods because I found the game way too easy. Any other mods that increase enemy variety or maybe mods that add cozy shit to the game are also greatly appreciated.

There's mods to turn off the build limits and let you toggle collision so you can really play home decorator those are pretty good. Also lots of hair and outfits and make up etc. Haven't tried any of the difficulty or add more spells to enemies mods but they're there, dunno. There are like custom dungeons and arenas now though they might interest you. Unfortunately I don't think that many people have gone back to try the mods to give you recommendations, not even after they added a mod browser in game.

I just installed the game myself and was looking through the mod menu in game, there were a few mods that were trying to make the game harder, but it looked like it was mostly just a health buff on enemies and cooldown nerf to the player.

So... Flitwick echo can double Suitcase... that's a thing... guh. <.<

Pretty sure this would've just been unwinnable if I weren't fighting like the only Suitcase user in GM+ who doesn't have it at/near max level. The echo overall seems neat but that combo is kind of abhorrent.

I think I'm probably going to quit solos soon; Flitwick is legitimately unbeatable.
(Locomotor -> Snitch/HH -> Suitcase, Snitch), (Snitch/HH -> Bombtastic/Ashwinder -> Niffler) seems to be already identified as the optimal cycling for him... it's literally just the "spam the things that were already overpowered, but even more" echo. There are theoretically lots of fun ways to play Flitwick but I've fought like 10 of them so far and they're all using nearly the same build because it's just blatantly better than everything else.

Cedric is pretty good and I mostly like how he plays; it's a little annoying that his infinite movement hardcounters aimed spells i.e. all the ones I use, but things are allowed to counter things and whatever it's not like I can win matches anymore anyway. Unfortunately most people seem to be using him as another Thunderstorm spam echo. Unlike Flitwick I'm not entirely convinced the most degenerate option for him is actually the best (Zouwu and Winged Catapult work nicely with his echo effect and have higher damage potential), but the TS build is still quite strong and completely braindead to use.

Also Felix Felicis + Standard Book (see: https://files.catbox.moe/eer4hp.mp4) is about as broken and awful to play against as expected but it barely matters. Dobby companion... also hardcounters me but not really any worse than Hagrid; overall I don't think he's especially good.

I used to have a few difficulty mods last playthrough that were decent. One of them was indeed a mod that makes the enemies have more HP, but unlike some other games, I think this game actually needs it. The default enemy HP pool is so low that you don't actually have to do any combo's. You can literally just spam some random attack in a random order. With a higher HP pool and smarter enemies, you actually have to think about what combo's you do and chain attacks to take them down. In my opinion that makes the combat a lot more fun.

Are sexytime mods in this game a thing? Or does the coding not allow it?

I was a bit wrong about Cedric, both for good and for bad.
On the good end he doesn't actually hardcounter aimed spells that hard because you *have* to keep moving to get his echo effect, so focusing down Snitches really messes with him and prevents the infinite movement thing. Usually they have too much HP to be worth killing but shutting them down basically disables Cedric echo so it's actually worthwhile against him.
On the bad end... turns out the (probably?) best build for him has been found after all... aaand it's just Suitcase spam; is anyone really surprised? I got oneshot from full HP by someone using it, immediately threw together a deck with it of my own... and still lost because I played like absolute garbage and forgot what cards I had, but still did like 3000 damage in one cast for literally no effort at all. I don't really know what counters this aside from just forcibly having Portkey included in every single deck...? I guess I'll probably keep abusing it for the time being since most opponents are using something at least equally degenerate.

No it should be fine; we just recently had someone start there too. Unless you're trying to do PvP (which is very non-mandatory; the rewards aren't very good) it's not really possible to get "left behind" progression-wise for most of the main story and event stuff.

Mhmm... Felix Felicis with Standard Book of Spells is absurd; I've faced people pulling 2x Giant Squid + Kelpie + Locomotor with it. With ideal use it dodges an incoming spell, and then makes you invulnerable for 7 seconds, and then gives you ~5-10 MP extra from SBS, for 3 MP. And the extra stuff you get from Felix-buffed SBS is consistently worth more than 3 MP, so it's functionally a negative-cost card with a dodge and a shield attached. Biiiiit insane.

I'm glad it's a Mythic so we won't be seeing that much of it after the first week where it's boosted.

Oh, I take back what I said about Pranktastic Present being strong yet worse than Inflatus. Fire Crabs -> Carpe Retractum -> Pranktastic (at their own feet) -> Flipendo is pretty much an instakill... it's a full stun so you can't really do anything about it, and can be followed up with Inflatus and/or Abigail for good measure.

It's possible to interrupt the combo if you're fast and have the right cards, but if they get the Flipendo off you're immediately stunned and then dead.
