>a single round will be held each week
>we will be using a very basic leaderboard system, as Challonge doesn't really support something like this too well
>BO3 matches, match wins and byes net you 2 points, match losses net you 1 point and no shows give you nothing

>matchups will be randomized each week, as allowing new players to join all the time messes with any automated round systems
>The randomized matchups will be announced in the thread each Sunday and the matchups can agree on the time and date of the duel during that week

I know this gets said a lot but this genuinely, unironically looks ai generated

I think it's safe to say that we'll start to see Dracotail entering the the meta-sphere in a more dominant way going forward. Particularly Branded Dracotail builds.
Yummy is still going to be extremely dominant especially post DOOD.
Mitsurugi and Fiendsmith being unhit but having the cards that bridge into them being removed means that these archetypes are still going to be powerhouses when they do show up.

Malice is probably dead for the most part competitively. Not saying you won't see any but they ain't winning any events, way too inconsistent now. That's including the lower number of Lancea's we'll see too btw, it doesn't make a difference.
VS is a lot weaker and I anticipate them dropping off significantly too, definitely not the best deck of this upcoming format. Far from it.

Last little prediction but the rogue decks we currently have + the ones we expect to see post DOOD will be that much better now since the power level of the game just took a fairly decent sized hit. Yes, JUHU still remains dominant, but I can see some other deck taking tournaments from the JUHU decks every now and then.

Memento. This fucking deck is still full power. It's still strong as shit. I rate it high as fuck on the threat meter, I think it's annoying as fuck to go against. The only silver lining that could perhaps see Memento not be so prominent in the meta is it's a hard to deck to learn and play against and because of that this is one of the decks I do think the new time rules could fuck over.
Like even if you know the deck like the back of your hand it is unironically a pain in the ass to play against, the opponent will be eating up a lot of time reading through cards and trying to figure out what to hit. Yes, even after it's won a couple of events and people know about it, don't doubt people's ability to avoid learning this match up at all costs and thus not know how the fuck to play against it or what its cards do. It's the same situation as plants but worse IMO.

Then there's the wild card. Snake-Eyes did just get Ash and Poplar back to 3 (Poplar to 3 is w/e, you'd only run 2 at most still). No Apo though, no Fiendsmith bridge, no OSS and 1 Bonfire but outside of that it could '''''''potentially'''''''' do something. I haven't looked into it in depth so maybe it doesn't do shit but who knows, we'll just have to wait and see.

The art mage cards in general look turbo shilled by the amount of silly it was allowed to have.
Its earliest extra deck boss monster has an Omni-negate.
Snake eyes was great by being a turbo link deck. But they were iffy going second. And the greatest asset to them are the link-3 and and that mega generic monster negate card.

White forest and Azamina were supposed to be strong too. But people only went with Azamina for the Omni-negate and completely ignored the huge pile of fusions it actually had.

Sometimes badly designed decks like Branded are stronger because their interruptions and win cons are simply much better and more flexible.
It is mega stupid that Rindbruum only negates extra deck monsters. But when the opponent plays a deck that actually works like that, you get to negate a critical combo piece of a card and then toss a card back to the hand, which alone could win the game. And if they send it to the GY, Albaz will come up there, take a monster, and make mirrorjade.

Mirrorjade was meta because it meant “otk or die” and had a great destruction effect that makes it impossible to do the “oh my board was wiped, just let me make this omega combo afterwards”.

It doesn’t really help that these meta decks depend too much on “add a card from the deck to your hand” effects that a droll or an ash completely kills whatever they do on turns 3 and 4 when the opponent’s effects were used up on the previous turn.

In terms of locks, it should be obvious that every deck ever would be inconvenienced by any lock, although that's not to say we should abolish shit like Branded Fusion/Ryzeal lock or whatever or that such locks even affect said decks at all, the ideal case is to give decks more powerful effects to compensate so decks aren't wholly hypergeneric sloppa, and it's also important to note that not all locks are the same in how inconvenient they are. Also this is solely for rest of turn and during the turn locks, because who fucking cares about locks while on field

Attribute locks and summon mechanic locks are basically almost always whatever, who cares?, they narrow decks down to a broad scope, even when it's like, a WIND or EARTH lock it's whatever
Type locks are rather dependent on the type, something like Warrior, Fiend, Dragon, or Cyberse doesn't fucking matter and are often times better than attribute locks like WIND or EARTH. Locking to Fish, Pyro, Reptile on the other hand is lmao tier, because how delibitating a lock is is based on how much it narrows down one's toolbox, both in terms of engine starters, variants and endboard pieces, and constantly supported types like Dragon and Cyberse, fare far better than types like Pyro or Fish.
This leads into the point that archetype locks are usually the harshest of locks, since unless you're something like HERO or D/D/D, your scope is entirely narrowed into the archetype you are given.

At what point you are locked also matters, if a lock is only on the last card you play, it doesn't matter, if it's on a midway piece, you could play generic cards before said midway piece, like how Dragon Link made non-DARKs before commiting to Rokket or HERO making Beatrice or Isolde before Faris. If it's on a shitty fucking extender you'd never play, you can ignore it, but if it's on the starter or is a turnwide xenolock, it massively shifts deck composition and plays.

The goal of supporting archetypes isn't to make them meta. Sure for some people being competitively successful is the only thing that matters, but you can just ignore them and wait for them to quit the game on their own. The goal of old support is to update ancient decks to the speed of modern Yugioh. Difficult-to-summon bosses are made easier to turbo, gimmicks like the Arcana Force turn skip or the yusaku.dek omni-summoning gimmick are streamlined, and combos are streamlined like how yusei.dek now has a 1 card combo. I don't think Artmegia looks turboshilled because "it has too many good cards", I think it looks really bad, made even worse by its lock, meaning that it is significantly narrowed by the cards that can support it, especially compared to previous loresoup decks, and also by the quality of cards we saw in DOOD.
