A pattern I’ve noticed with Komuro‘s writing is that she emphasizes concepts first and characters second. Look back at the reveal trailers for Awakening/Fates/Engage. They’re all focused on the “premise” of the story rather than the characters involved in it. Fates’ trailers focus on the route split rather than the individual royals. Engage’s trailers focus on the emblem mechanic with the royals just kinda being in the background.
But in Fortune’s Weave, we aren’t told what the actual story is about. What we are told, however, is the general motivations of the four lords. Cai wants to save his father. Theodora wants to become queen. Dietrich wants to fight “someone” whom he once fought in the past. Leda wants to enact vengeance on a personal nemesis.
It’s not at all indicative of Komuro’s sensibilities as a writer. It’s probably written by someone else

Actually I think you're right. Most Fire Emblem games are presented in the form of an epic poem like The Odyssey or The Illiad. It's a large cast of characters struggling in a global cosmic scale, so the characters and lords themselves actually feel secondary to the overall reaching plot which they feed into. This means that we are instead getting personal character driven stories which focus individually on each lord as the center of plot instead of the whole continent (including gods and dragons) as the center of the plot. So to circumvent the smaller scope of the storytelling they "weave" multiple character driven stories together to create a grand epic story of conflicting lords and powers. This is what Radiant Dawn did by switching through the different character stories of the different lords Micaiah, Ike, and Elincia.

IS and Nintendo as a whole are good at learning the wrong lessons from their successes and failures. I'm cautiously optimistic, in that this trailer was an admission that Engage was not the right direction for the series, but blatant pandering to 3H is also worrying. They either have no new ideas or don't know why Engage flopped, so they're trying to repeat something successful.

My bet is it'll be four routes where the first three quarters of each route is a completely identical run through the tournament, ending with your chosen lord getting their wish, with map and event reuse being even worse than 3H.
