Yea, but such thing like the warrior's or other enemies durability in the game also reflect the inconsistency in lore/tabletop game when applied to a video game. Lore/tabletop dictate that warriors are supposed to be a match for a space marines but if they can be taken down with a few bolter shots to center mass, then how the fuck can those niggas with some whip and sword be even close to a match to a space marine in a real time action video game setting.

Headshot variant Heavy bolter is better for trash clear and majoris. M4D + auspex equipment damage perks will let you melt extremis+. Ive levelled every weapon for Tac and I keep coming back to the Heavy Bolter. It just feels too good. Only the Pyre compares and thats only on Inferno, Decap and Exfil.

Tyranids either run down their opponent's resources through attrition or they amass such numbers that they just crush their opposition in a sudden massed assault.
A tyranid warrior would aim to have a group of escorting hormagaunts distract or drag down an isolated space marine while he inflicts a killing blow, but tyranids expect to and are supposed to suffer disproportionate casualties if their opposition has a superior position and can maintain its defensive integrity.
Basically, a single devastator should be able to completely shut down their assault for as long as he has ammunition if he forces them down a chokepoint of some kind, you're not getting passed a heavy bolter down a corridor without heavy armor. But he and his squad will be immediately surrounded and torn apart if they're caught out in the open.
Tactics and positioning are things space marines usually use to regularly defeat most of their enemies.

You'd design maps in such a way that if your teamwork is good, you pick your positions well and you correctly prioritize targets, your team guns down everything around. If you do not have these things down you will get flanked or blindsided by a powerful enemy or isolated and killed.
Melee would be for conserving ammo against enemies of strength or numbers that do not necessitate forcing them into a disadvantageous environment or buying time if your position is broken.
Basically, figure out how to do space hulk but not exclusively in a bunch of claustrophobic corridors and you're not terminators.

They should just make some extremis enemies focus more on disabling/supportive abilities instead of them just being bigger damage sponges that rush at you most of the time. Like terminator missiles shouldn't vaguely track you, instead it should be a concentrated barrage on one area that denies it to you. Lictor should use that pinning move more often.

Yea but it is AOE and the damage adds up better than single target weapons when you are hitting 2-4 warrior as well. The shit is instant and stagger so you can get melee in between each shot. Sure, the flame thrower does better dps but you have to wait for start up and you don't get major damage until the burn proc. Flamethrower has a higher commitment which can make you get hit more.

flamethrowers damage is much, much higher. i dont think it correctly shows up in the stats at the end of the mission.
meltas pros are stagger, instant speed and chp recovery. its however dogshit vs terminusΒ΄ and zoanthropes. i play melta on vanguard, but i think it needs a buff overall. especially it should get a positive multiplier vs terminus enemies because its supposed to be a tankbuster weapon, yet it is by far the worst weapon to deal with bosses.

It doesn't reflect in the stat, I know that. All of the benefits of melta is underrated. Zoanthrope is not a problem just pistol.tnem lol. Terminus is tough yea, but you can go clear majoris/extremist which is like 50% of a terminus battle and let your teammates deal with the terminus. If you have to go in on the terminus, melee/side arm are still on the table

It was never an AoE weapon outside of Space Marine, it was always a bluish white long beam that fucks over big targets.

Even in the original the Meltagun melts Chaos Space Marines and Bloodletters in a shot or two but it only had 15 ammo.

Melta needs a serious damage buff vs extremis+ and honestly, if you really want to give it a clear role to separate it from Pyro, it should be able hardstagger extremis, including breaking biovore guard.

Meltas instakill chaos sorcs and downstate terminators. Also packs of chigger spawns. Kraks are good for sorcerers too. Shock is great at slowing down every type of enemy to a crawl, zoning, throwing one into an ally that is surrounded and struggling.

Shocks are only good against portal spawns and even then Chaos spawns and terminators will just walk out. Kraks are only good against sorcs, scarabs and helbrutes. Meltas are not super useful against any Chaos because of how hypermobile so many of them are. Frags are basically just for the stagger.

Stockpile mileage is significantly reduced vs Chaos and thats okay. The CHP perk blunts the retardation of spawns and let's you recover from getting blindsided by minigun scarabs way easier.

Most of the power of your melee comes from the ability to instantly stagger the shit out of what's in front of you.

The Tacticus and Gravis chests are 100% Deathwatch. Chains, the circular chest ornament the mantra of the Space Marines upon initiation. The shoulder continues the theme with the rest of the mantra, the Tacticus chest has two lines, the shoulder has the third. Makes sense for it to tie into that part, but the only classes that can wear it without it looking stupid is Bulwark and Heavy, the former using up-armored shoulders like some Tacticus-Gravis midpoint.
