Finally got a Legendary and it might be the worst gun in the world. Alright for melees, but god damn.

Fire can be rolled on Prince Harming, which is basically a hellfire that actually does something. I wish it wasn't Ripper or at least wasn't intentionally ugly, they're sort of iconic legendaries to the series and the idea was generally a standard looking SMG with red accents that pumps out massive fire damage once you start using it.

Anyone know what this is for?

Technomancer- Eldritch Blast deals Ordnance damage in addition to it's other types. Killing an enemy, triggering kill skills, or using a grenade will reset Eldritch Blast cooldown

Why the fuck have they made the specialization points so potent while making the xp requirement scale so steeply past ~60 points AND also made the respec so prohibitively expensive? Just got the achieve for 'picking up' 1000 eridium after 40 hours, so the other 10k i have is from one-time mission/challenge rewards.

People are going to be so mad about this system in the next month when they run out of the free eridium from the campaign.

That's my exact feelings on this, part of my memories with Borderlands are hundreds of hours using that gun and now it's a shitty plastic toy. It's more of an issue with the gun designs of BL4 in general, but they could have made Hellfire one of the better looking SMGs instead of the Ripper dogshit.

now the ordnances 90% are vendor trash but there's a ripper style rocket launcher that hits like a truck. its just another case of the balance being all over the place like how spread launcher oneshots bosses if you manage to find a shotgun with it while 90% of underbarrels are not even worth the time it takes to play the switching animation.

In terms of the specialization points. Do you have to beat the campaign for each individual character to unlock that mechanic? Or is it more efficient to complete your first character, and then start with level 1 again, and level specialization points while going through the campaign?

Borderlands 3 made me laugh, not intentionally, but for how blatantly they tried to just repeat a few successful elements from 2 almost one to one, but wildly missed the mark. First trying to have a "cool memey antagonist" like Handsome Jack, but now there's TWO of them and they're ten times more in your face, and are just annoying and lame instead. Then repeating the "shock death of a former player character" like Roland, but while that was actually a surprise as it comes out of nowhere but also features Jack appearing in the flesh suddenly, after you had only heard him via voice comms before that, so it's a decently impactful twist. Instead you just get an incredibly contrived and anti-climactic scene of Maya getting killed off, and the chucklefuck twins have appeared constantly so it just comes off as yet another scene of them easily winning so the plot can continue.

If you die in a cutscene you're dead for good is a hard and fast rule, and while rush almost dying wasn't literally a cutscene it basically was so his risk of death was real. Being able to be digistructed for money is an asspull only meant for playable characters because without it every run would be an ironman run. Anyone else using Japanese dub? It's honestly pretty fucking good. Vex is a cutie and the rippers sounds like great too. Besides that. I think I just found my new favorite gun. While it's damage looks deceptively low, it deletes bosses in one or two clips

I leveled mostly with blue tree. The only skills that actually matter are Eternal Winter (middle tree, changes your whip) and Ballistic Bulwark (left tree, gives overshield steal) because the whip deals ordnance damage. I then went into red for Gut Punch (damage amp/reduction).
That's about it.
I since changed over to Shatterwight with a focus on bottom left red tree, since the mod gives the whip melee damage, allowing red tree to lifesteal instead of blue, so I need much less investment in blue and can play around berserk for fuckhuge cryo damage.
It's been a little disappointing in the endgame, mostly because I specifically need action skill duration on my class mod and don't want to farm for it, so I'm doing Rafa for now. He's got much better quality of life, between clearing trash for free and zooming around at mach speeds.

I know Bleed is the best build for lvl 50 Vex, but I kinda want to try a Fire build. Anyone got a suggestion for items or talents?

Oh also, two more things
Action skill duration is important. Get yourself a class mod with that, consider putting 5 points into Warrior's Cup in blue to restore action skill, and get the lowest cooldown repkit you can, ideally with cooldown reduction but it's optional.
And also, whip spam is miserable to play if you're on keyboard with default binds. I do not recommend it. Spamming F all the time is not only annoying, but also tiring, so I ended up programming an F spam macro into my gayming mouse, since for some reason BL4 doesn't like AutoHotkey.

Maybe if you were keeping them for an alt or something because it's still a decent set of parts and lasted you for a long time so a future char can use it, or if it was a super rare drop for collecting you would save it. But otherwise, not really. Most legendaries you get at low level you might get or farm again for max level later. That's how the games always were.

I'm really not doing anything special. Just slapping points where ever. The class mod is just the first legendary one that dropped so I just stuck that in there. I'm not having any problems. Just sometimes summon some ghosts to distract enemies. I'll replay any boss I trip over 2 or 3 times until a random legendary drops. Maybe that's carrying me but I'm not having any trouble.

But, again, I'm not endgame. Just, well, 32 it seems.

Don't hold on to them. Use them as soon as you outscale your gear and have trouble finding anything worthwhile. There's no point saving them until 50, because at that point, you can easily go do farming runs for something half-decent. Golden chests don't actually reward you with anything better than you can get in a couple boss runs.

I bought the game 1.5 days ago, I'm level 30 playing through the story right now. I found this legendary class mod that procs blood shot on sniper rifle hits/kills, that was pretty strong for awhile but the sniper rifles feel awful right now so I respec'd to the left side to use radiation attunement.
For solo play I also don't see the point in using heartpiercer with the former build since you already have lifesteal from leeching attunement, and you shouldn't be spamming F when blood shot's duration is on a short timer. I don't think Incarnate is a fun playstyle for dealing damage though, seems like everyone just turns it on for the passive buffs.

Open world is only a hindrance if the core game isn't built with it in mind which results in devs tacking on fast travel features (e.g. Elden Ring). Borderlands always had the open ended main location intended to be traversed with vehicles that veered off into dungeons or side areas. My big complaint is locking systems behind post-story completion which instills some FOMO on the first playthrough if you just want to take your time and engage in the open world activities.

You can get your bank and inventory maxed out, and to the second highest level of ammo upgrades relatively quickly. If you play the regular clone siren build, your sirens are also too dumb to aim for them (although they can hit them if you're lucky), and if you play any build that does not include an explosive weapon you're fucked. If your grenade is one of those long ass fuse ones, you're fucked, if the enemy is flying, most of your grenades are fucked. At least when you needed to slag enemies, you didn't have to hit specific body parts. Not to mention the fact that some of them are very fast enemies that like to jump in your face, at which point you'll just kill yourself with your torque gun.
I mean fuck: we all know the truth: Enemies that are immune to damage until you do some arbitrary bullshit, are the worst. Did YOU enjoy the boss fight where you had to keep picking up the fucking gas bomb to destroy the armor all the fucking time? Didn't think so. That's nobodies favourite part.

Chroma Accelerator (red tree) has some good stuff, and I've dipped into blue for the extra crit chance on skills (top right), extra fire rate whenever you use or retrigger her skill (middle left) and the skill under it to entangle more enemies. For the red tree, top right, the one under it, then the one on the left of the third row, paired with the augment that's next to the first set of skills you picked.

Honestly, once she gets to level 5 and picks up the augment, she's golden. It adds a percentage of the damage she deals with her action skill (and the first skill you're grabbing boosts the damage it deals) as radiation damage to her gun. Get a weapon with a good rate of fire and a decent mag (hello, Vladof) and she will absolutely devastate bosses, especially if they come with adds. The third skill I picked up makes her skill cooldown lower everytime you inflict a status ailment, so if you've got a good elemental weapon, put it to use. If not, the extra rad damage you'll get after you use the skill will enable you to prove the skill a few times. Her middle branch on red tree will boost her radiation damage as well as make it so shooting irradiated enemies spawns radiation projectiles. You also pick up the bottom right in that branch so enemies explode with a rad nova whenever they get irradiated, and the capstone automatically irradiates enemies as well as fires more rad projectiles. The crit chance for skills from blue works on all of these little extra projectiles and damaging effects as well.

I've still got about 13 points to go, so I'll have to see what else I'm wanting from her trees when I hit 50. My only complaint is that she does feel anemic whenever her skill isn't available, but that might change once I get legendary class mods that I can play around with.

Post-game when all these red enemies start spawning how do you deal with them before you have a proper build going? They have a ton of health and kill you in like 3 hits, if they have deflector or any of those annoying attributes they seem difficult to deal with. I keep dying to these red threshers that have deflector so they burrow out of the ground, smash the floor then hide again. So within that 2 second window when they're up their shots reflect back at me and it takes 50 sniper shots to actually kill them.

Going by the description, I'm thinking lifesteal applies to everything. I played with the technomancer class mod and it seems better suited for the left or middle branch. Very few missions in BL4 force you to do nothing while you listen.

It's the support capstone, the other two capstones have more uptime if you play it correctly. The absence of a cooldown is misleading, it's the slowest one to cast and it's there for players who want to mix up their playstyle as a healer which is why it doesn't need gun damage to recharge the ability. The detonation is a separate passive, collecting the orbs to chain skill duration infinitely is cool but it can be used with any branch. That being said, it's also healing you which compliments all the passives that proc when you're at full/high health. And the damage from casting scales with your max health capacity so you don't have to take skill damage up to perform well with it.

The middle tree is 50% using full auto weapons and spamming F as fast as possible to fully refill your magazine, the guns and the eldritch blast feed into each other. You just want to maximize fire rate which is essentially your skill cooldown reduction. The left branch seems the most niche to me because it's specializing in shields and radiation damage, I think you need specific legendaries and rolls to make that branch useful. Ordnance damage from Vex's legendary class mod is strong but I'm not sure if it applies to the hazards from Desecration. If it does, that's something I'd try out as a skill build.
