I played through the first act forever ago but never progressed any further because a lot of content was still missing. Thinking about coming back to it and playing as your average murder hobo. Merely selecting an innocuous dialogue option when talking to the sex pest during the tiefling party is enough to be flagged as flirting. The sex pest gains more than 50 approval points if you just have it in the party while you convince Oliver to reunite with his other half. The entire "character," if it can even be called that, is written to quickly latch onto the player character, and to be liked by pretty much every companion not named Minthara.

Where the Lava Elemental is? Kill it first. He's responsible for those bursting lava bubbles that hampers navigation there. Once those are gone it's just standard running and jumping. I started sniping him from the platform above for the lulz and it turned out you could actually kill him from there. The staff that could be combined from the 3 pieces you gather from the Drow who were racing to find the Forge was especially useful.

It was a dropped plot line, but the emperor. The Sharrans were supposed to be tadpoled, hence Viconia being so out of character. They rewrote the game so late that it's all using set pieces from a different story just remixed together. Shadowheart's parents were never there, she was never a Selunite, the nightsong was never Aylin, Halsin murdered Isobel with that cursed spear, etc.

But in general your first playthrough should be totally yours so you might get spoilers here. Go in blind, and if you don't like how something turns out, the game supports a second playthrough very well anyway with the alternate routes and whatnot.

Warlock has always been an effective class if you wanted to abuse EB + HoH. The new Hexblade subclass seems alright, at least on paper. It has a solid progression, access to some useful spells (including Banishing Smite), and one of the best Reactions at level 10. With the addition of Booming Blade in Patch 8, gish builds are in a very good spot.

Visiting Moonrise was an interesting and fruitful experience but I can't help but notice that:

I'm not worrying about beating the enemy but keeping the Harpers and Jaheira alive. As much as possible at least. I've never done the assault before but I familiarized myself with the layout of Moonrise, so I have a plan already that involves some flanking and surprises from the back. Dedicating 3 companions to clearing Moonrise then another 3 to going after the General also sounds like a cool concept. Not due to efficiency or whatever, just to involve everybody and finally use some items you rarely (if ever) do during normal gameplay.

Our opinions are fundamentally different on the matter. Did you take it into account that we're talking about NCPs with generic gear and controlled by AI? Because the situation looks like this, and I only use a simple example:

Branthos, the mastermind behind the Harper ambush has two Once per Short Rest abilities (Rush Attack, Pommel Strike) besides his Main Attack. That's his entire repertoire. No Disarming Attack due to a Larian fuck-up and most importantly a non-functioning Extra Attack either by an accidental or deliberate gimping. That's right, he only attacks once per round. This is a trait almost all Harpers share.

Meanwhile any random Paladin in the Throne Room comes with Branding Smite, Cleave/ Lacerate/Rush Attack, two Lay on Hand healing, Thunderous Smite, an optional Abjure Enemy. That's on top of the usual Aura of Protection and Divine Health, not to mention the Great Weapon Fighting passive. And they obviously beat him at every single Saving Throw, sometimes by +6-7. And they have 60-plus % extra HP and +2AC. And they come with a Caustic Bulb while barely any Harper has any consumables. And there's 4 of them in the Throne Room alone, supported by 2 similarly equipped (Hunger of Hadar, Radiant spells) Clerics. And their Extra Attack actually works.

The mod creator also took some odd liberties, such as the ability to punch Halsin in the face when he wants to barge into your relationship with Shart.

I know you can talk to him to trick him into doing shit, but the game doesn't let you actually ambush him unless I'm doing something very, very wrong.

He has Alert. Meaning he can't be Surprised and gets +5 for his Initiative, which stands at +8 with that. So the closest you can get to an ambush is rolling a higher Initiative than him, which is pretty hard unless you have Alert as well.

The reason behind this and why he usually starts the fight with casting Sanctuary on himself is because he holds the Moonlatern that protects everybody. Remember, his freak show doesn't have the Selune's Blessing like your lot.

I am actually really loving how this succubus class plays, I wish there was something similar in the base game.
I got a weapon from REL that makes me much better, but it's still a cool design to be flitting around the battlefield and charming people.

What are objectively the most over powered classes?

Open hand monk trivializes most act 3 bosses with stun. Swords bard gets great damage and can hypnotize/command enemies easily, again trivializing every encounter even on honor mode. Sorcerer can do obscene amounts of damage, but so can wizard with a magic missile spam setup. Paladin has good burst damage but casters definitely out cheese them. Moon Druid has great survivability, the Owlbear form can cheese certain bosses by jumping on them (Ketheric, Orin, Gyrm), a ton of summons and decent damage.

Is swords bard the best overall?

Pure Paladin doesn't rank very high in my opinion - it's just solid without being overpowered. Swords Bard with a 2-level Paladin dip is another story. Sorcerer can leverage metamagic in many ways, including stacking Arcane Acuity, which is obviously game-breaking. OH Monk is just ridiculous, as you mentioned. Any build that can abuse vulnerability against lightning/cold/piercing/psychic damage.

Console has some hardware limitations compared to a good pc, it doesn't have access to third party modding and must rely upon the integrated mod.io functionality (unless you jailbreak your console), and they recieve patches at the speed sony and microsoft say they do rather than it only being up to larian. So overall the console experience is slightly worse than a good pc with your own third party mod manager and using larian's own launcher.

But a controller on pc is the best experience in my opinion. The aoe search function is so convenient and one of the popular mods simply emulates it, left stick movement is so comfortable and one of the popular mods simply emulates it, and the wheels set to your bumper and trigger buttons is just as fast and convenient as hotbars. bg3 is one of the few crpg to really nail controller support, and I'd even go as far as to say it's better experience than with a kb+m.
I play every other crpg with m+kb because most games don't have such good controller support.

Doing my first playthrough and vaporising everything with Hexblade Warlock, the entire game was entirely trivialised when i found the shadowblade + resonance stone combo, Hunger of Hadar seems crazy strong too, especially if you use water for the double damage and dont let anyone get out by using eldritch blast pushback
